2019 European Championship (darts)
The 2019 Unibet European Championship was the twelfth edition of the Professional Darts Corporation's European Championship tournament, which saw the top players from the thirteen European tour events compete against each other. The tournament took place from 24–27 October 2019 at the Lokhalle in Göttingen, Germany. James Wade was the defending champion, after beating Simon Whitlock 11–8 in the 2018 final. However, he was beaten 6–0 by Jonny Clayton in the first round. Clayton posted the 6th highest average in the tournament's history in the process. Rob Cross won his third major title with an 11–6 win over Gerwyn Price in the final. Prize money The 2019 European Championship had a total prize fund of £500,000, an increase of £100,000 from the last staging of the tournament. Dave Chisnall
David Chisnall (born 12 September 1980) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number twelve; he reached a peak ranking of world number five in 2017 and 2024. He began his career in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and was the runner-up in the 2010 BDO World Championship. Jermaine Wattimena
Jermaine Wattimena (born 9 March 1988) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. A PDC Tour Card holder since 2015; he reached his first major final in 2024, finishing as runner-up at the European Championship. Wattimena represented the Netherlands in the 2019 PDC World Cup of Darts, reaching the semi-finals alongside Michael van Gerwen. Christopher Dobey (born 31 May 1990) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number seven; he reached a peak ranking of world number six in 2025. A PDC Tour Card holder since 2015, Dobey has since won seven ranking Players Championship titles. Steve Beaton (born 5 April 1964) is an English former professional darts player who competes in World Seniors Darts (WSD) events. Nicknamed "the Bronzed Adonis", Beaton formerly formerly competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO), World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments. He is a former BDO World Champion, having won the 1996 World Championship. He was ranked BDO world number one in 1993 and 1994. Before switching to the PDC in 2001, Beaton won the 1993 World Masters, the 1995 and 1996 Dutch Opens, and also achieved success in the WDF Europe Cup and WDF World Cup. Ricky Evans (darts Player)
Richard Ian Evans (born 29 July 1990) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Nicknamed "Rapid" Ricky Evans due to his very fast throwing speed, he was a semi-finalist at the 2024 UK Open. Evans made the quarter-finals at the 2019 European Championship and has been the runner-up at four Players Championship events on the PDC Pro Tour, as well as at two European Tours. Glen Durrant
Glen Durrant (born 24 November 1970), nicknamed "Duzza", is an English former professional darts player who competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Durrant is a three-time BDO World Champion, having won the title in consecutive years: 2017, 2018 and 2019. Durrant also won six other BDO major titles: the 2018 BDO World Trophy, the World Masters in 2015 and 2016, and the Finder Darts Masters in 2015, 2016 and 2018. Keegan Brown (born 5 November 1992) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He has won two ranking PDC Players Championship titles. Brown reached the quarter-finals at the 2014 Grand Slam of Darts and the 2023 World Series Finals. In his youth career, Brown won the 2014 PDC World Youth Championship.
