2018–19 ISU Junior Grand Prix
The 2018–19 ISU Junior Grand Prix was a series of junior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union that were held from August 2018 through December 2018. It was the junior-level complement to the 2018–19 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the 2018–19 Junior Grand Prix Final in Vancouver, Canada. Competitions The locations of the JGP events change yearly. This season, the series was composed of the following events. Entries Skaters who reached the age of 13 by July 1, 2018 but had not turned 19 (singles and females of the other two disciplines) or 21 (male pair skaters and ice dancers) were eligible to compete on the junior circuit. The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (titled the ISU Junior Series in the 1997–98 season) is a series of international figure skating competition, junior-level competitions organized by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The series was inaugurated in 1997 to complement the senior-level ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Skaters earn qualifying points at each Junior Grand Prix event and the six highest-ranking qualifiers meet at the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final, which is held concurrently with the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Mitsuki Sumoto
is a Japanese former competitive figure skater. He is the 2017–18 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, the 2017 JGP Latvia champion, and the 2017–18 Japanese junior national champion. He finished within the top ten at the 2018 World Junior Championships. Personal life Sumoto was born on 4 February 2001 in Izumiotsu, Osaka, Japan. His figure skating idol is Yuzuru Hanyu. Career Early career Competing at the Japan Novice Championships, Sumoto placed 10th in the 2011–12 season, 12th in 2012–13, and 8th in 2013–14. During the 2015–16 figure skating season, Sumoto debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit, placing 7th in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Stephen Gogolev (born December 22, 2004) is a Canadian figure skater. He is the 2023 CS Autumn Classic International, 2023 CS Autumn Classic bronze medalist and the 2019 Canadian Figure Skating Championships, Canadian national silver medalist. The 2018 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held in Sofia, Bulgaria from 5–11 March 2018.
