2018 Thailand Masters (badminton)
The 2018 Thailand Masters, officially the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2018, was a badminton tournament which took place at Nimibutr Stadium in Thailand from 9 to 14 January 2018 and had a total purse of $150,000. Tournament The 2018 Thailand Masters was the first tournament of the 2018 BWF World Tour and also part of the Thailand Masters championships which had been held since 2016. This tournament was organized by the Badminton Association of Thailand with sanction from the BWF. It was also the first ever new Super 300 Level 5 tournament of the BWF World Tour schedule. Nimibutr Stadium
Nimibutr Stadium (sometimes referred to as Nimibutr Gymnasium) is an indoor sporting arena located in Bangkok, Thailand. The capacity of the arena is 5,600 spectators. It was built in 1963 and is part of the National Stadium complex. It is used for a variety of indoor sports such as badminton, handball, basketball, futsal, gymnastics and boxing. BWF World Ranking
The BWF World Ranking is the official ranking of the Badminton World Federation for badminton players who participate in tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation. It is used to determine the qualification for the World Championships and Summer Olympic Games, as well as BWF World Tour tournaments. Thomas Rouxel
Thomas Rouxel (born 26 May 1991) is a French badminton player affiliated with Chambly Oise club. In 2016, he won the silver medal at the European Men's Team Championships in Kazan, Russia. Career Rouxel helped the team to win silver in the European Men's Team Championships. He also help the team to achieve bronze two years later in the men's team event. Thomas reached the finals of the 2019 Orléans Masters Super 100. He lost in the final to Koki Watanabe in 3 games. Liew Daren
Liew Daren (born 6 August 1987) is a Malaysian badminton player. His biggest success to date is having won the 2012 French Open Super Series. He reached a career high ranking of World No.10. He also represented Malaysia competed at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Early life Liew was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was educated at the Taman Midah Primary School. He began playing badminton at the age of seven. Leong Jun Hao (; born 13 July 1999) is a Malaysian badminton player. He was the boys' singles champion at the 2017 Asia Junior Championships. This achievement was followed by a silver medal at World Junior Championships. Personal life Leong was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur to Celine Low and Anthony Leong. He started playing badminton for fun outside his house. At the age of 9, he started playing the sport seriously under his father’s tutelage. Kantaphon Wangcharoen ( th, กันตภณ หวังเจริญ; born 18 September 1998) is a Thai badminton player. At the young age, Wangcharoen became the runner-up in the senior tournament 2014 Singapore International in the men's singles event after losing the match because of foot injury. Wangcharoen clinched the bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in the boys' singles event, also part of the junior team that won the mixed team bronze in 2014 and 2016, and Asian mixed team bronze in 2016. Mark Caljouw
Mark Caljouw (born 25 January 1995) is a Dutch badminton player. He started playing badminton aged eight, at BC Randstad in Rijswijk. Career Caljouw was selected to join the national team in 2008, and made a debut in international senior tournament in 2012. Caljouw competed at the 2013 European Junior Championships in Ankara, Turkey, winning a silver medal in the boys' singles event, and also a bronze medal in the mixed team event. He was selected by Badminton Europe to join the Player Development Plan "Future Stars".
