2018 Södermanland Regional Election
Södermanland County or Region Sörmland held a regional council election on 9 September 2018 across its nine municipalities. This was part of the 2018 Swedish regional elections and held on the same day as the municipal and 2018 Swedish general election, general elections. Results The number of seats rose from 71 to 79. This meant that both the Swedish Social Democratic Party, Social Democrats and the Moderate Party (Sweden), Moderates kept their seat numbers in spite of their vote and seat share falling sizeably. The Social Democrats fell the most, going from 33.3% to 28.7%. The local party Vård för pengarna ended up becoming the largest party in both coastal municipalities of Nyköping Municipality, Nyköping and Oxelösund. This was the first time any other party than the Social Democrats had topped the poll in Oxelösund in any election since the location's founding. Södermanland County
Södermanland County (, ) is a Counties of Sweden, county or ''län'' on the southeast coast of Sweden. In the local Sörmlandic dialects it is virtually universally shortened and pronounced as Sörmlands län, or simply Sörmland, which is the dominant pronunciation and spelling inside the county. For example, the name of the local Regional councils of Sweden, regional council is ''Region Sörmland''. Södermanland's capital is Nyköping and the largest settlement is Eskilstuna. In the sparsely populated interior, Katrineholm is the largest locality. In total, Södermanland has nine municipalities and about 300,000 inhabitants. Södermanland borders the counties of Östergötland County, Östergötland, Örebro County, Örebro, Västmanland County, Västmanland, Uppsala County, Uppsala, Stockholm County, Stockholm and to the Baltic Sea.
