2018 Lombard Regional Election
The 2018 Lombard regional election took place on 4 March 2018. The election took place concurrently with the 2018 Italian general election, Italian general election and the 2018 Lazio regional election, Lazio regional election. Electoral system Since 2012, Lombardy has adopted its legislation to elect its Council, very similar to the national ''Tatarella Law'' of 1995. While the President of Lombardy and the leader of the opposition are still elected at-large, 78 councilors are elected by party lists under a form of semi-proportional representation. The winning coalition receives a jackpot of at least 45 seats, which are divided between all majority parties using the D'Hondt method, as it happens between the losing lists. Each party then distributes its seats to its Provinces of Italy, provincial lists, where candidates are open list, openly selected. The Regional Council of Lombardy () is the parliament, legislative assembly of Lombardy, Italy. It was first elected in 1970, when the Regions of Italy, ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The political system of the Regions of Italy was changed in 1995, when a semi-presidential system was introduced. If until that year the council was elected under a pure proportional representation, proportional system and the President of Lombardy was chosen and dismissed by the council, since 1995 the President and the council are jointly elected by the people. Brothers of Italy (, FdI) is a National conservatism, national-conservative and Right-wing populism, right-wing populist political party in Italy, that is currently the country's ruling party. Five Star Movement
The Five Star Movement ( , M5S) is a political party in Italy, led by Giuseppe Conte. It was launched on 4 October 2009 by Beppe Grillo, a political activist and comedian, and Gianroberto Casaleggio, a web strategist. The party is primarily described as populist of the syncretic kind, due to its long-time indifference to the left–right political spectrum. Open List
Open list describes any variant of party-list proportional representation where voters have at least some influence on the order in which a Political party, party's candidates are elected. This is as opposed to closed list, in which party lists are in a predetermined, fixed order by the time of the election and gives the general voter no influence at all on the position of the candidates placed on the party list. An open list system allows voters to select individuals rather than, or in addition to parties. Different systems give the voter different amounts of influence to change the default ranking.
