2018 Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne
The 70th edition of the Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne cycling classic was held on 25 February 2018. It was part of the 2018 UCI Europe Tour and ranked as a 1.HC event. The route was , starting and finishing in Kuurne. It was the second and concluding race of the Belgian ''opening weekend'', the year's first road races in Northwestern Europe, one day after Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The race was won by Dylan Groenewegen of in a sprint, followed by Arnaud Démare in second and Sonny Colbrelli finishing in third. Teams Twenty-five teams were invited to start the race. These included sixteen UCI WorldTeams and nine UCI Professional Continental teams. Peter Sagan
Peter Sagan (; born 26 January 1990) is a Slovak former professional cyclist who competed in road bicycle racing and mountain bicycle racing. Sagan had a successful junior cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing career, winning the junior cross-country race at the 2008 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships, before moving to road racing. He ended his cycling career in 2024. Sagan is considered a generational talent, having earned many prestigious victories out of a total of 121 professional wins. His most notable achievements were an unprecedented three consecutive men's road race World Championships from 2015-2017 inclusive, and his record seven Points classifications in the Tour de France. He also won two of cycling's monuments, the Tour of Flanders (2016) and Paris–Roubaix (2018), and was awarded the prestigious Vélo d'Or in 2016, the season when he also topped the UCI World Ranking. 2018 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
The 2018 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was a road bicycle racing, road cycling one-day race that took place on 24 February 2018 in Belgium. It was the 73rd edition of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the fourth event of the 2018 UCI World Tour. It was won by Danish rider Michael Valgren for the team, soloing to victory by 12 seconds ahead of 's Łukasz Wiśniowski of Poland, with the podium completed by the highest-placed home rider Sep Vanmarcke (). Teams As the race was only added to the UCI World Tour calendar in 2017, all UCI WorldTeams were invited to the race, but not obligated to compete in the race. As such, seventeen of the eighteen WorldTeams – with the exception of the – competed in the race, up two on 2017 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 2017. Eight UCI Professional Continental teams competed, completing the 25-team peloton.
