Saracens Women
Saracens Women ( /ˈsærəsənz/) are a women's rugby union club based in Hendon, London, England. They were founded in 1989 and currently play in the Premier 15s, the top level competition of women's rugby in the country. Saracens are the most successful team in the history of the Premier 15s, having won the league a record three times – in 2017–18, 2018–19 and 2021–22. They are also the women's team of Saracens Amateurs, who themselves are affiliated to Premiership Rugby team, Saracens. History Saracens Women were formed in 1989, starting in and winning the second division in its first season and making it to the Women's Premiership for the 1990–91 season. Hannah Botterman (born 8 June 1999) is an English rugby union prop who represents Saracens Women in club rugby and the England national team. Botterman made her debut in 2017 against Canada. International career In 2017, Botterman was called up to the England national women's rugby team after an impressive season at her club, Saracens. She made her debut versus Canada. Botterman played again for England in the 2019 Super Series San Diego and was awarded a full time professional contract by the Rugby Football Union for the 2019/20 season. She was part of the Grand Slam winning 2019 Women's Six Nations Championship team. Poppy Cleall (born 12 June 1992) is an English rugby union player. She also plays for Saracens Women at club level. She is the 2021 Six Nations Player of the Year, England Player of the year and the leading all time Premiership try scorer. She was nominated for World Player of the Year in 2021. She has won 5 Grand Slams and 4 Premiership Titles with Saracens. International career Cleall made her England debut at the 2016 Women's Six Nations Championship. Zoe Harrison (born 14 April 1998) is an English rugby player who plays for the England women's national rugby union team and Saracens Women at club level. She made her international debut for England in 2017 and was offered a full-time contract for the national side in 2019. International career Harrison first played for the England women's national rugby team in 2017, when she made three appearances in the autumn internationals. Sara Cox (rugby Union Referee)
Sara Cox (born 1990/91) is an English rugby union referee and former rugby union footballer. In 2016, she became the world's first professional female rugby union referee, and in 2018 she became the first female to referee a Premiership Rugby Cup match. On 25 September 2021, she became the first woman to referee a Premiership Rugby Union Match when she took centre field for a fixture between Harlequins and Worcester Warriors at the Stoop. Career As a player, Cox played rugby for Exeter, Saracens, Cullompton and Plymouth Albion, and had trials for England U-21. Aged 17, she decided to retire from playing the sport after an injury, and took up refereeing instead, initially part time, whilst also working for a waste management company.
