2017 Texas Bowl
The 2017 Texas Bowl was an American college football bowl game played on December 27, 2017, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Sponsored by the Academy Sports + Outdoors sporting goods company, it was officially known as the Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl. The game was one of the 2017–18 bowl games concluding the 2017 FBS football season. The twelfth edition of the Texas Bowl, the game featured the Texas Longhorns of the Big 12 Conference against the Missouri Tigers of the Southeastern Conference. This was the teams' 24th meeting. Prior to the game, Texas led the series 17–6. This was their first match-up since Missouri left the Big 12 Conference after the 2011 season. Texas defeated Missouri, . NRG Stadium, formerly Reliant Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Houston, Texas, United States. Construction was completed in 2002, at a cost of $352 million and has a seating capacity of 72,220. It was the first NFL facility to have a retractable roof. Larry Rountree III (born February 13, 1999) is an American football running back for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri. Early years Rountree attended Millbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a senior, he ran for 1,147 yards on 201 carries with 21 touchdowns. Andrew Stephen Lock (born November 10, 1996) is an American football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). Samuel George Ehlinger ( ; born September 30, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). 2017 Missouri Tigers Football Team
The 2017 Missouri Tigers football team represented the University of Missouri in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers played their home games at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri and competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by second-year head coach Barry Odom. The Texas Bowl is an annual postseason NCAA-sanctioned Division I FBS college football bowl game first held in 2006 in Houston, Texas. Each edition of the bowl has been played at NRG Stadium, previously known as Reliant Stadium.
