2017 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 23rd season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 72nd FIM Speedway World Championship. It was seventeenth series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG company. The world title was won by Jason Doyle, who finished ahead of debutant Patryk Dudek and former two-time champion Tai Woffinden. It was the first title of Doyle's career, and the first time an Australian had lifted the trophy since Chris Holder in 2012. Defending champion Greg Hancock was unable to complete the season after suffering an injury, competing in only six of the 12 rounds. Qualification For the 2017 season there were 15 permanent riders, joined at each Grand Prix by one wild card and two track reserves. Jason Doyle
Jason Kevin Doyle (born 6 October 1985) is an Australian motorcycle speedway rider. He became World Champion in 2017 after winning the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix. Doyle is a member of the Australia national speedway team and represented his country in the Speedway World Cup and was a part of the Australian team that won the 2022 Speedway of Nations. Career Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle, New South Wales, Doyle made his British speedway debut in March 2005 for Premier League (speedway), Premier League team the Isle of Wight Islanders. Fredrik Lindgren (speedway Rider)
Jan Fredrik Tobias (Freddie) Lindgren (born 15 September 1985) is a Swedish motorcycle speedway rider. He has won the silver medal and the bronze medal twice at the Speedway World Championship, in addition to the world team championship in 2015. Career Born in Örebro, Sweden. Lindgren's father Tommy Lindgren (speedway rider), Tommy Lindgren was a speedway rider before him, and his younger brother Ludvig Lindgren, Ludvig also rides. Lindgren first appeared for Wolverhampton Wolves during the 2003 season as the team struggled with injuries. At the age of just 17, Freddie made his debut for the team and impressed enough to be brought back the following season when again injuries hit the club. Krško
Krško (; ) is a town in eastern Slovenia. It is the seat of the City Municipality of Krško. Andžejs Ļebedevs (born 4 November 1994) is a Latvian speedway rider. Career Ļebedevs finished in 16th place during the 2022 Speedway World Championship, after securing 26 points during the 2022 Speedway Grand Prix. He was selected as a reserve for the 2023 Speedway Grand Prix. Also in 2022, he helped Wilki Krosno win the 2022 1.Liga. Michael Jepsen Jensen
Michael Jepsen Jensen (born 18 February 1992) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. Career Jepsen Jensen was part of the 2010 Under-21 World Cup winning Denmark team. He peaked in 2012, winning the 2012 Speedway World Cup with the Denmark national speedway team and winning the 2012 Speedway Grand Prix of Nordic becoming the first wildcard to have won a GP meeting since Hans Andersen. In the Nordic Grand Prix he defeated Nicki Pedersen, Emil Sayfutdinov and Jason Crump in the final. Later that year in November 2012, he won the Individual Under-21 World Championship. Martin Smolinski (born 6 December 1984) is a German motorcycle speedway rider. He is three-times world longtrack champion and eight times champion of Germany. Personal life Smolinski was born on 6 December 1984 in Munich, West Germany. He is of Polish descent through his paternal grandfather from Katowice. Career Smolinksi began riding in his natiove Germany for MSC Olching. He became the German junior champion in 2003 and after reaching the final 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship he signed for Coventry Bees in England. Peter Kildemand
Peter Kildemand (born 1 September 1989) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark and was a member of the Danish national team. He is a two-time Speedway Grand Prix winner. Career Kildemand started riding in Britain for Workington Comets in 2010 and 2011, before signing for Coventry Bees mid-way through the 2011 season. He was a member of the Swindon Robins 2012 Elite League Championship winning team and was named "Rider of the Year" for the club at the end of the season. Kildemand was also part of the Fjelsted team that won the 2017 Danish Speedway League. He was captain of Västervik Speedway team in 2018.
