2017 Iowa State Cyclones Football Team
The 2017 Iowa State Cyclones football team represented Iowa State University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Competing as a member of the Big 12 Conference (Big 12), the team played its home games at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. They were led by second-year head coach Matt Campbell. They finished the season 8–5, 5–4 in Big 12 play to finish in a four-way tie for fourth place. They were invited to the Liberty Bowl where they defeated Memphis. Matt Campbell (American Football Coach)
Matthew Allen Campbell (born November 29, 1979) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at Iowa State University, a position he has held since the 2016 season. Campbell was head football coach at the University of Toledo from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, Campbell had been an assistant at Toledo, Bowling Green, and Mount Union. Campbell grew up in Ohio and briefly attended the University of Pittsburgh before transferring to Mount Union, where he played defensive line. Playing career Campbell was born in Massillon, Ohio. Jake Campos (born October 18, 1994) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was a member of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Iowa State University. Early years Campos attended Valley High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball and track. Landen Akers (born July 7, 1997) is an American professional football wide receiver. He played college football at Iowa State. Early life Akers grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attended Washington High School, where he played baseball and football and ran track.
