2015 World Grand Prix (darts)
The 2015 PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix was the eighteenth staging of the World Grand Prix. It was played from 4–10 October 2015 at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion, after beating James Wade 5–3 in sets in the previous year's final, but he was beaten 5–4 in the final by Robert Thornton. Prize money The total prize money remained at £400,000. Citywest
Citywest () is a suburban development on the southwestern periphery of Dublin, originally developed as a "business campus." It contains a large hotel with a convention centre, a small shopping centre and a small but expanding residential element. Philip Douglas Taylor (born 13 August 1960) is an English former professional darts player. Nicknamed "the Power", he dominated darts across three decades and is widely considered the greatest darts player of all time, having won 214 professional tournaments, including a record 87 major titles and a record 16 World Professional Darts Championship, World Championships. Justin Pipe
Justin Pipe (born 9 November 1971) is an English former professional darts player who competed in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won six PDC titles. Playing career Pipe was a Boxing, boxer in his youth, and, as a staunch anti-smoker, he refused to play darts in local pubs as the cigarette smoke would make his eyes water. In 2007, a Smoking ban in England, smoking ban was introduced to England which enabled him to restart his darts career. He first emerged at the 2008 UK Open (darts), 2008 UK Open as a pub qualifier. Jelle Klaasen
Jelle Klaasen (born 17 October 1984), nicknamed the Cobra, is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He previously participated in British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments, where in 2006, he became the youngest player to win the BDO World Darts Championship, aged 21 at the time. Raymond van Barneveld (born 20 April 1967) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he was ranked world number one from January 2008 to June 2008. Kim Huybrechts (born 16 November 1985) is a Belgian professional darts player competing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Mervyn King (born 15 March 1966) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He formerly competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments. Nicknamed The King, he reached seven PDC premier event finals and a peak ranking of world number four in the PDC Order of Merit. Terry Jenkins
Terry Jenkins (born 26 September 1963) is an English former professional darts player who was nicknamed The Bull, having previously used the name "Tucker" for his matches. He reached a peak ranking of world number three in the darts world rankings and was a runner-up in nine major PDC televised finals. Brendan Dolan
Brendan Gabriel Dolan (born 2 August 1973) is a Northern Irish professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was the first player to hit a nine-dart finish in a "double-to-start" event (where a player must hit a double to begin play), which he achieved at the 2011 World Grand Prix, giving him the nickname the History Maker. Ian White (born 17 August 1970), nicknamed "Diamond", is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. White has won thirteen PDC ranking events, including three titles on the PDC European Tour. He reached his first major semi-final at the 2019 Players Championship Finals. David Chisnall (born 12 September 1980) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number twelve; he reached a peak ranking of world number five in 2017 and 2024.
