2014 Vattenfall Cyclassics
The 2014 Vattenfall Cyclassics was the 19th edition of the Vattenfall Cyclassics, a single-day cycling race. It was held on 24 August 2014, over a distance of , starting and finishing in Hamburg, Germany. It is the 23rd race of the 2014 UCI World Tour season. It was won in the sprint by Alexander Kristoff, ahead of Giacomo Nizzolo and Simon Gerrans. Teams As the Vattenfall Cyclassics was a UCI World Tour event, all 18 UCI ProTeams were invited automatically and obligated to send a squad. 2014 UCI World Tour
The 2014 UCI World Tour was the sixth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The series started with the opening stage of the 2014 Tour Down Under, Tour Down Under on 21 January, and concluded with the final stage of the 2014 Tour of Beijing, Tour of Beijing on 14 October. After winning the 2008 UCI ProTour, Spain's Alejandro Valverde won his first World Tour individual points title, amassing 686 points over the course of the season. The rider finished 66 points clear of his closest rival and compatriot Alberto Contador of , while Australian rider Simon Gerrans was third for the team, but was over 200 points in arrears of Valverde. UCI ProTour
The UCI ProTour was a series of road bicycle races in Europe, Australia and Canada organised by the UCI (International Cycling Union). Created by Hein Verbruggen, former president of the UCI, it comprises a number of 'ProTour' cycling teams, each of whom are required to compete in every round of the series. It was initially the basis of a season long competition for rankings points, created for 2005 to replace the UCI Road World Cup series, which ended at the end of the 2004 season (although the World Cup did not include any stage races). The ProTour was the subject of continuing disputes involving the UCI, cycling teams, and the organizers of the world's most prominent bicycle races (most notably, the Grand Tours), and in 2009 and 2010 the ranking element of the ProTour was superseded by the UCI World Ranking. Silvan Dillier
Silvan Dillier (born 3 August 1990) is a Swiss cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Career Amateur career Dillier was born in Baden, Switzerland. In 2008, he was the Swiss national junior time trial champion, Under-23 road champion in 2009, and Under-23 time trial champion in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, he won a stage at the Tour de l'Avenir. In the 2013 Tour of Alberta, he won stage 2 while riding with as a stagiaire. This prompted BMC to sign him to a contract for the 2014 cycling season. Juan José Lobato del Valle (born 30 December 1988) is a Spanish professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Davide Cimolai (born 13 August 1989) is an Italian professional road and track bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam .
