The 2014 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I (NCAA), Division I level, began on February 14, 2014. 2014 Virginia Cavaliers Baseball Team
The 2014 Virginia Cavaliers baseball team represented the University of Virginia in the 2014 NCAA Division I baseball season. Head coach Brian O'Connor (baseball coach), Brian O'Connor was in his 11th year coaching the Cavaliers, who played their home games at Davenport Field. They competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division. 2014 was a very good year for Virginia baseball. The Big East Conference was a List of college athletic conferences, collegiate athletics conference that consisted of as many as 16 universities in the eastern half of the United States from 1979 to 2013. History Early history (1973–1983) Though UCF baseball first took the field in 1973, its history dates back to 1970 with UCF's club baseball team, the FTU Goldsox. The Goldsox played in the Amateur Baseball League of Central Florida and were managed by Jack Pantelias, who led them from 1970 to midway through the 1972 season. The Temple Owls baseball team was a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, until the end of the 2014 season. On December 6, 2013, Temple announced that it would cut seven sports, including baseball, at the end of the 2013–14 academic year for financial reasons. History This baseball team was a member of the American Athletic Conference in 2014. It was previously a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Big East Conference. Temple's first baseball team was fielded in 1927 and played home games at Erny Field until 2003. The team played its home games at Skip Wilson Field in Ambler from 2004 until 2013.
