UCF Knights Baseball
The UCF Knights baseball team represents The University of Central Florida in National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I. The Knights compete in the Big 12 Conference. The Knights play their home games on UCF's main campus in Orlando, Florida at John Euliano Park. History Early history (1973–1983) Though UCF baseball first took the field in 1973, its history dates back to 1970 with UCF's club baseball team, the FTU Goldsox. The Goldsox played in the Amateur Baseball League of Central Florida and were managed by Jack Pantelias, who led them from 1970 to midway through the 1972 season. When Pantelias resigned, he was replaced by Doug Holmquist, who would lead the team through the end of the season on an interim basis before being named head coach before the 1973 season. The Florida State Seminoles baseball team represents Florida State University (variously Florida State or FSU) in the sport of college baseball. Florida State competes in NCAA Division I, and the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). 2017 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament began on June 1, 2017, as part of the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64-team, double-elimination tournament concluded with the 2017 College World Series (CWS) in Omaha, Nebraska. The CWS started on June 17 and ended on June 27. The 64 participating NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 299 teams. Thirty-one teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conferences, and 33 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Teams were divided into sixteen regionals of four teams, which conducted a double-elimination tournament. Regional champions then faced each other in Super Regionals, a best-of-three-game series, to determine the eight participants in the College World Series. East Carolina Pirates Baseball
The East Carolina Pirates baseball team is an intercollegiate baseball team representing East Carolina University in NCAA Division I college baseball and participates as a full member of the American Athletic Conference. The Pirates have made regular appearances in the NCAA tournament. As of 2025, they have the most NCAA tournament appearances without a College World Series appearance. The Pirates are coached by Cliff Godwin and play their home games at Clark-LeClair Stadium, named after donor and alumnus Bill Clark and former coach Keith LeClair. Wright State Raiders Baseball
The Wright State Raiders baseball team is the college baseball team of Wright State University. The program was founded in 1971 where it started off in Division II until 1988 when it moved to Division I. Nischwitz Stadium in Dayton, Ohio, has been the home field of the program since 1993. The team has won 12 conference regular season championships, 12 conference tournament championships, and has appeared in the NCAA tournament 10 times. Stadium Wright State currently plays at Nischwitz Stadium. The 750 seat stadium was built in 1993 and was named after Ron and Gregg Nischwitz. Ron coached the program for 30 years. Greg Lovelady
Greg Lovelady (born January 11, 1979) is an American college baseball coach. Lovelady played college baseball at Miami (FL), where as a catcher and four-year letter winner, he won the 1999 College World Series and 2001 College World Series. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Florida Marlins organization, and played one season with the Utica Blue Sox before turning to coaching. He served three more years at Miami, working with catchers. In his seven years in Coral Gables, the Hurricanes reached five College World Series, winning two, and appeared in the Super Regional round all seven years. In 2005, Lovelady accepted an assistant coach position at Wright State. Two years later, he added associate head coach duties. The 2012 UCF Knights baseball team represented the University of Central Florida in the 2012 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Knights played their home games at Jay Bergman Field in Orlando, Florida. The Knights were led by head coach Terry Rooney, who was in his fourth season with the team.
