The 2013 Telkom Knockout was the 32nd edition of the Telkom Knockout, a South African cup competition comprising the 16 teams in the Premiership. It took place between October and December 2013. The final was won by Platinum Stars, who upset Orlando Pirates. 2012 Telkom Knockout
The 2012 Telkom Knockout is a football (soccer) knockout competition which comprised the 16 teams in the South African Premier Soccer League. It was the 21st tournament, and the 7th under the Telkom Knockout name. The tournament is effectively South Africa's league cup, as entry is open only to clubs in the top league. The cup is usually played in the first half of the season. The tournament began on 17 October and ended on 1 December 2012. In all matches there has to be a winner on the day, this will be decided if there is a winner after full-time (90 minutes). If teams are tied at full-time then extra time will be played, penalties will decide the winner if the scores are still even (there is no golden goal rule). The 2014 Telkom Knockout was the 33rd edition of the Telkom Knockout, a South African cup competition comprising the 16 teams in the Premiership. It took place between October and November 2014. The final was won by SuperSport United, who defeated Platinum Stars. The final, contested by two relatively poorly-supported teams, is considered one of the best finals in South African soccer history. Stars scored first through Robert Ng’ambi, before Clayton Daniels equalised with a penalty 10 minutes before half-time. The game reached extra-time with the score 1–1. Daniels scored a second penalty for SuperSport before Stars's Mogakolodi Ngele equalised with a volley from the edge of the area. The Carling Knockout Cup is a South African professional soccer knockout competition which comprises the 16 teams in the South African Premiership. The Carling Knockout Cup is the third of the three main cups administered by the PSL along with the MTN 8 and the Nedbank Cup. The Carling Knockout Cup was first held in 1982 as the Datsun Challenge, and in 2023 under its current sponsored name. Format The format used in this competition is the Knockout Stage phase. The competition will be played by 16 teams in a single knockout match. A winner will be decided after full-time (90 minutes). If the two teams playing against each other are still tied after full-time, then the match will go through to extra time. If the score is still tied, then the match will go to penalties. The South African Premiership, also known as the Betway Premiership for sponsorship reasons, and commonly referred to as the PSL after its governing body, is a professional soccer league in South Africa and the highest level of the South African soccer league system. The Mbombela Stadium is a association football, football and Rugby union all-seater stadium in Mbombela in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. It was one of 10 venues for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and one of 5 newly constructed stadiums for the tournament.
