2013 Point Optical Curling Classic
The 2013 Point Optical Curling Classic was held from September 27 to 30 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan as part of the 2013–14 World Curling Tour. The event was held in a triple knockout format, and the purse for the event was CAD$50,000, of which the winner, Jeff Stoughton, received CAD$12,000. Stoughton defeated Kevin Martin's team in the final with a score of 6–2. Martin's team was skipped by third Nedohin after Martin went out with a back injury, while Jeff Sharp subbed in as lead. Nathan Connolly (curler)
Nathan Connolly (born 20 January 1981) is a Northern Irish musician, who is best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for alternative rock band Snow Patrol. Early life Connolly, who was born in Belfast, sang for a gospel church choir at Glenmachan, Church of God, Belfast when he was 16, and the experience, he says, is what inspired him to be a musician. He is a former pupil of Grosvenor Grammar School. Career Prior to joining Snow Patrol, Connolly was a member of a band called File Under Easy Listening (or F.U.E.L), who were managed by BBC Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray. The band consisted of Connolly, vocalist Aaron Ditty, Dave Magee and Peter Comfort. Unfortunately, it did not last long; the single "Closure/Dryform" was F.U.E.L.'s first and only release. Karrick Martin
Karrick Martin (born May 24, 1989 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian curler. He currently plays lead on Team Kevin Koe. He is the son of 2010 Olympic champion skip Kevin Martin. Career Juniors Despite being the son of one of curling's greatest players, Martin only began curling at age 19, after playing hockey in high school for the Beaumont Chiefs. He joined the University of Alberta curling team and played in the 2008 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, throwing second stones for the team, which was skipped by Brandon Klassen. There, the team went 3-3 in their group, before losing in a tiebreaker. Martin returned to the national university championship in 2010 throwing third on a team skipped by Eric Richard. Bradley Thiessen
Bradley Thiessen (born March 1, 1990 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian curler. He was a long-time member of the Brendan Bottcher rink, throwing second stones for the team until 2022. With Bottcher, he won the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier and represented Canada at the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship. Career Juniors Thiessen was a member of the Bottcher rink at the 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, representing Alberta. There, the team finished with a 6-6 record. Thiessen aged off the team, and was not a member of the team when Bottcher won the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Michael "Mick" (Micky) Lizmore (born November 7, 1987 in London, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. Career Juniors Lizmore, who is originally from London, Ontario won the 2007 Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships playing vice for the Ryan Myler rink. Representing Ontario at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team went 8-4, missing the playoffs. Brendan Michael Bottcher (born December 19, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Bottcher is a three-time provincial men's champion, and was the skip of the 2021 Canadian men's championship team, having led Alberta to victory at the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier. Born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Bottcher enjoyed a successful junior career winning the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships. Darren Moulding (born December 2, 1982) is a Canadian curler from Lacombe, Alberta and curls out of the Saville Sports Centre and the Lacombe Curling Club. He is a former Canadian Junior Silver Medallist, a Canadian Mixed Champion, and represented Alberta in the 2017, 2018, 2020 and Team Wild Card in the 2019 Brier Canadian men's championship. Matthew Blandford (born April 16, 1985) is a Canadian curler currently residing in Cold Lake, Alberta. He is originally from Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, and is a three-time Newfoundland and Labrador junior champion.
