Arena Football League
The Arena Football League (AFL) was a professional arena football league in the United States. It was founded in 1986, but played its first official games in the 1987 season, making it the third longest-running professional football league in North America after the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the National Football League (NFL) until the AFL closed in 2019. 2012 Arizona Rattlers Season
The Arizona Rattlers season was the 21st season for the franchise in the Arena Football League. The team was coached by Kevin Guy and played their home games at US Airways Center. After winning their third consecutive division championship with a 13–5 record, the Rattlers were able to advance to ArenaBowl XXV, where they defeated the Philadelphia Soul 72–54 to win their third league championship in franchise history. Reggie Gray (born April 29, 1984) is an American football wide receiver and kickoff returner who is currently a free agent. High school Gray attended Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he was a team captain and led his team to the 2001 City Championship, in which they defeated Dunbar in a shootout. He scored the game-winning touchdown on a 45-yard bomb with 41 seconds left in the game. He was an All-State wide receiver, defensive back, and kick returner. Luke Drone (born December 18, 1984) is a former American football quarterback. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Illinois State. Early years Drone attended Mt. Carmel High School, Illinois, and was a four-year starter in baseball and a three-year starter in football and basketball. As a senior, he threw 30 TDs and passed for over 2,000 yards, while rushing for over 1,000 yards with 15 TDs. Drone was a First-team All-State selection and was academic All-State as well. He was voted the conference MVP as his team posted a 25-3 record during his junior and senior years, finishing as the state runner-up both seasons. The Cleveland Gladiators season was the 13th season for the franchise in the Arena Football League, and the fourth while in Cleveland. The team was coached by Steve Thonn and played their home games at Quicken Loans Arena. The Gladiators finished the season with an 8–10 record and did not qualify for the playoffs. In this season, the Gladiators became the first team in the history of the league to forfeit a game. They did so on June 8 when the players went on strike prior to a matchup against the Pittsburgh Power in week 14. The Utah Blaze season was the sixth season for the franchise in the Arena Football League. The team was coached by Ron James and played its home games at EnergySolutions Arena for the second straight year. The Blaze finished the regular season 12–6 and qualified for the playoffs.
