2011 Sunshine Tour
The 2011 Sunshine Tour is the 12th season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was relaunched in 2000, and the 5th since the tour switched a calendar based season in 2007. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. The tour is based predominantly in South Africa with other events being held in neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Zambia and Namibia. As usual, the tour consists of two distinct parts, commonly referred to as the "Summer Swing" and the "Winter Swing". Tournaments held during the Summer Swing generally have much higher prize funds, attract stronger fields, and are the only tournaments on the tour to carry world ranking points, with some events being co-sanctioned with the European Tour. Jean Hugo (golfer)
Victor Jean Hugo (born 3 December 1975) is a South African professional golfer. Golf career Hugo matriculated at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1994. Three years later he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from University of Stellenbosch. He is the youngest son of organic chemist Professor Victor Hugo and Esme Hugo who were both active in sport and sport administration. He also excelled in rugby and cricket before choosing golf as a career. Hugo played on the European Tour and had his best season in 2001 when he finished 34th on the Order of Merit. Lodewicus Theodorus "Louis" Oosthuizen (; born 1982) is a South African professional golfer who won the 2010 Open Championship. He has finished runner-up in all four major championships: the 2012 Masters Tournament, the 2015 and 2021 U.S. Open, the 2015 Open Championship, and the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2021. Adilson Da Silva
Adilson José da Silva (born 24 January 1972) is a Brazilian professional golfer. He currently plays on the European Senior Tour and the Sunshine Tour, where he has won twelve times. Career Da Silva was born in Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil but later moved to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He turned professional in 1994. Da Silva competes predominantly on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Tour. He won his first title on the tour in 1997 and has since added eight more tournament victories, and led the Vodacom Swing Challenge standings in 2006. He holds the record for most consecutive cuts made on the Sunshine Tour with 43. Da Silva has also played extensively in Zimbabwe, where he won the Amateur Championship in 1992. Nashua Golf Challenge
The Sun City Challenge is a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour. It has been played annually since 2007. From 2007 to 2011 it was called the Nashua Golf Challenge and was held at the Gary Player Country Club, although from 2007 to 2009 the second round was played at Lost City Golf Course. Justin Walters
Justin Jeremy Walters (born 23 October 1980) is a South African professional golfer. His mother is English and has played for England in team play. Walters played college golf at Huntingdon College, winning the 2001 NAIA Championship. He then transferred to North Carolina State University where he won three times and was an All-American in 2002 and 2003. He turned professional in 2003. Walters plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won twice, most recently at the 2011 Investec Royal Swazi Open. He began playing on the Challenge Tour in 2012. Walters has finished runner-up four times on the European Tour; twice at the Portugal Masters in 2013 and 2019, as well as the Joburg Open in 2014. MTC Namibia PGA Championship
The MTC Namibia PGA Championship was a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour. George Coetzee
George William Coetzee (born 18 July 1986) is a South African professional golfer. He has won five tournaments on the European Tour and 13 on the Sunshine Tour, where he has also topped the Order of Merit on two occasions. Early life Coetzee was born in Pretoria and matriculated from the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in 2004. He started playing golf when he was 10 and won the first junior tournament he ever played in, shooting 49 in 9 holes. The South African PGA Championship is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. It is generally played in February, depending on the Tour Schedule, with a prize fund of 2 million rand, and is currently held at Eye of Africa Signature Golf Estate in the Johannesburg suburb of Eikenhof. The Zimbabwe Open is a professional golf tournament held in Zimbabwe, currently played on the Sunshine Tour. History The tournament was first played in 1984 and from 1985 to 1992 was part of the Safari Circuit, a collection of events in Africa that were played by professionals based on the European Tour during their winter.
