2009–10 Primera Divisió
The 2009–10 Primera Divisió was the fifteenth season of top-tier football in Andorra. It began in September 2009 and ended in May 2010. UE Sant Julià were the defending champions. FC Santa Coloma won the league championship and entered the first qualifying round of the 2010–11 UEFA Champions League, where they were defeated by Maltese side Birkirkara F.C. UE Engordany was relegated and will be replaced by Segona Divisió champions Casa Estrella del Benfica for the 2010–11 Primera Divisió, 2010–11 season. Competition format The participating teams first play a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent once home and once away for a total of 14 games. Primera Divisió
The Primera Divisió (First Division), also known as Lliga Multisegur Assegurances for sponsorship reasons is the top level of men's football in Andorra. The league was launched in 1995 sponsored by the local federation ( Andorran Football Federation) which was created just one year before. Until then, clubs had played since 1970 in an amateur league without a structure or affiliation with any official institution. Since affiliation to UEFA and FIFA in 1996, Andorran clubs are able to compete in the UEFA competitions. Until 2015 the league was known as ''Lliga Grup Becier'' and during 2016 ''Lliga Grup Sant Eloi''. It was renamed in 2017 as Lliga Multisegur Assegurances for sponsorship reasons. All the teams in the league play in the same stadiums owned by the federation. The same occurs in all other Andorran competitions, such as the Copa Constitució and Supercopa. Inter Club d'Escaldes is an Andorra, Andorran professional association football, football club based in Escaldes-Engordany. The club currently plays in Primera Divisió, where it is a three-time champion. History Inter Club d'Escaldes was founded in Escaldes-Engordany in 1991 and being founder member of Primera Divisió in 1995, the Premier League of Andorra. The club was playing since then in the top flight until April 2015 when the team was relegated after finishing 8th in the regular league. The club returned in Primera Divisió after two seasons, in May 2017. UE Extremenya is an Andorran football club based in the parish of La Massana. The club currently plays in Segona Divisió. History The club was founded in 1998 as CE Cerni. The club played the 1998–99 Campionat de Lliga, being relegated to the Segona Divisió at the end of the season. They stayed in the Second Division until the coming back in the top flight during the 2002–03 season. The club was relegated after finishing 8th at the end of the regular season. The club suffered another relegation to the Second Division for the 2005–06 season after one year in the top division. 2010 Copa Constitució
The 2010 Copa Constitució was the eighteenth season of Andorra's football knockout tournament. The competition started on 17 January 2010 with the matches of the first elimination round and ended on 16 May 2010 with the Final. UE Sant Julià won the competition for the second time in three years with a 1–0 victory in the final over defending champions FC Santa Coloma. With the victory, UE Sant Julià earned a place in the second qualifying round of the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League, where they lost to Finnish side MYPA. FC Santa Coloma is an Andorran professional football club based in Santa Coloma, parish of Andorra la Vella, that competes in the Primera Divisió. It is the most successful team in both Primera Divisió and Copa Constitució, having won both titles thirteen and ten times respectively.
