2009 Manx Grand Prix
The 2009 Manx Grand Prix was held between Saturday 22 August and Friday 4 September 2009 on the 37.733-mile Mountain Course. The Blue Riband event of race week was won by Michael Russell claiming victory in the Senior. The Ultra-Lightweight race proved to be an historic event with Carolynn Sells becoming the first female solo winner on the Snaefell Mountain Course. A hat-trick of successive race wins was completed by Ryan Farquhar winning the Senior Classic race. The Junior Manx Grand Prix was won by Stephen McIlvenna and Sean Murphy the Newcomers Race with Adrian Kershaw winning Class B. The combined Junior Classic Race was won by Chris McGahan and Ewan Hamilton winning the 250 cc Class. There was further race win for Ryan Farquhar in the new Post Classic Race Class with Brian Mateer first in Class (ii). Manx Grand Prix
The Manx Grand Prix motorcycle races are held on the Isle of Man TT Course (or ' Mountain Circuit') every year for a two-week period, usually spanning the end of August and early September. New for 2022 is a period reduction from 14 to 9 days. The MGP or Manx (as it is more commonly known) is considered to be the amateur rider's alternative and a learning experience for the Isle of Man TT races held in May/June. The event differs from the TT in that it does not cater for sidecars. A 'Classic TT' race category for historic racing machines was added in 2013 as part of the Manx Government Department of Economic Development's expansion to create what is termed ''Festival of Motorcycling''. These new races also allowed for professional and experienced riders to compete. Bill Swallow
Bill Swallow is a classic motorcycle rider from Yorkshire. Racing He has won the Manx Grand Prix 9 times, a feat only bettered by Bob Heath. Matchless
Matchless is one of the oldest marques of British motorcycles, manufactured in Plumstead, London, between 1899 and 1966. A wide range of models were produced under the Matchless name, ranging from small two-strokes to 750 cc four-stroke twins. Matchless had a long history of racing success; a Matchless ridden by Charlie Collier won the first single-cylinder race in the first Isle of Man TT in 1907. In 1938, Matchless and AJS became part of Associated Motorcycles (AMC), both companies producing models under their own marques. MV Agusta 500 Three
The MV Agusta 500cc Three (1965–1973) or MV Agusta Tre was a road racing motorcycle produced by the Italian manufacturer MV Agusta to compete in the 500 cc Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Championship. The motorcycle was introduced in 1966 to compete against the ever competitive Honda racing machines and was a bored out version of MV Agusta's highly successful 350 cc three cylinder.
