2008 National Women Football Championship
The 2008 National Women Football Championship was the fourth season of the National Women Football Championship, the top-tier of women's football in Pakistan. The tournament took place from 20 to 30 August 2008 at Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad, and was organized by the Islamabad Football Association under directives of the Pakistan Football Federation. Young Rising Stars won their first title by beating the WAPDA 5-3 on penalties in the final after the match had ended goalless in regular time. The event took place from 29 July to 11 August 2009 in Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad. Thirteen teams competed in the tournament, with one of them, Malavan Bandar Anzali, being a guest team from Iran. Malavan BA won the title after beating Sports Science Department (of University of the Punjab) 11–0 in the final. Defending champions Young Rising Stars came third. National Women Football Championship
The National Women Football Championship is the top cup competition for women's football clubs in Pakistan – designed as an equivalent to the National Challenge Cup for men. It was started in 2005 by the Pakistan Football Federation. Young Rising Stars has been the most successful team in the history of he competition, winning it five times (including four consecutive wins from 2010 to 2013). Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
