2007 Indianapolis Tennis Championships
The 2007 Indianapolis Tennis Championships was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 20th edition of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, and was part of the International Series of the 2007 ATP Tour. It took place at the Indianapolis Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, from July 23 through July 30, 2007. The singles draw featured ATP No. 5, Australian Open semifinalist, Wimbledon quarterfinalist, Queen's Club winner and two-time Indianapolis champion Andy Roddick, Sydney titlist and Los Angeles runner-up James Blake, and Queen's Club and Nottingham semifinalist Dmitry Tursunov. Also present were Australian Open quarterfinalist Mardy Fish, Houston and Nottingham champion Ivo Karlović, Hyung-taik Lee, Robby Ginepri and Benjamin Becker, and a young Kei Nishikori, appearing in his first-ever ATP quarterfinal. ATP International Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1999 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. They generally offered less prize money and fewer points than the ATP International Series Gold, but more than tournaments on the ATP Challenger Series. The 2007 Countrywide Classic was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Los Angeles Tennis Center in Los Angeles in the United States and was part of the International Series of the 2007 ATP Tour and of the 2007 US Open Series. It was the 81st edition of the Los Angeles Open and the tournament ran from July 16, 2007, through July 23, 2007. Unseeded Radek Štěpánek won the singles title. Frank Dancevic
Frank Russell Dancevic ( ; , ; born September 26, 1984) is a retired Canadian professional tennis player. He first became the country's top singles tennis, singles player, according to ATP rankings, on February 10, 2003, as an 18-year-old, and remained so from January 30, 2006, until June 20, 2010. Dancevic has reached two ATP singles finals (Atlanta Open (tennis), Indianapolis and Eastbourne International, Eastbourne), the quarterfinals of the 2007 Rogers Masters – Singles, 2007 Montreal Masters and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 65 in September 2007. Kei Nishikori
is a Japanese professional tennis player. He is the only Japanese man in the Open Era to have been ranked in the top five in singles, reaching his career-high ranking of world No. 4 in March 2015, and the second man in history to do so after Jiro Sato. Nishikori has won twelve titles on the ATP Tour and was runner-up at the 2014 US Open, making him the only man representing an Asian country to contest a major singles final. Benjamin Becker (born 16 June 1981) is a German former professional tennis player. He is most known for defeating former world No. 1 Andre Agassi in the third round at the 2006 US Open, in Agassi's last match as a professional player. Lee Hyung-taik (, born 3 January 1976) is a former professional tennis player from South Korea. He won one singles title and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 36, in August 2007. Ivo Karlović (; born 28 February 1979) is a Croatian former professional tennis player. His height of 211 cm (6 ft 11 in) makes him the joint-tallest ranked tennis player in history (along with Reilly Opelka). He won eight ATP Tour singles titles between 2007 and 2016. He was a serve-and-volleyer and officially held the record for the fastest serve recorded in professional tennis, measured at 251 km/h (156 mph), before being officially surpassed by John Isner in 2016. Mardy Simpson Fish (born December 9, 1981) is an American former professional tennis player. He was a hardcourt specialist. He is one of several American tennis players who rose to prominence in the early 2000s.
