2004–05 USHL Season
The 2004–05 USHL season is the 26th season of the United States Hockey League as an all-junior league. The regular season began on September 24, 2004, and concluded on April 2, 2005, with the regular season champion winning the Anderson Cup. The 2004–05 season was the first for the Indiana Ice who moved from Danville, Illinois, after their first season in the USHL. Two years after being named the River City Lancers, the franchise in Omaha, Nebraska, returned to their original name of Omaha Lancers. The Clark Cup playoffs features the top four teams from each division competing for the league title. United States Hockey League
The United States Hockey League (USHL) is the top junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey. The league consists of 16 active teams located in the midwestern United States, for players between the ages of 16 and 21. The USHL is strictly amateur, allowing former players to compete in NCAA college hockey. The Chicago Steel won the Anderson Cup as the 2020–21 regular season champions and the 2021 Clark Cup playoff championship; both were their second in franchise history. Operations The USHL is the country's top sanctioned junior hockey league, classified as Tier I. Like comparable entities such as the Canadian Hockey League's (CHL) three member leagues, the USHL offers a schedule of high-level, competitive games for top players aged 16 to 20. Sioux City Musketeers
The Sioux City Musketeers are a junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The Musketeers' home ice is Tyson Events Center. The team was founded in 1972, and has won three Anderson Cups as the regular season champion, and four Clark Cups as the playoffs champion of the USHL. History Dave Siciliano served as head coach and general manager of the Musketeers from 2000 to 2008. Sioux City radio station KOOL 99.5 broadcast ''The Dave Siciliano Show'' on Mondays during the season, which included interviews with the coach and the team's players. Teddy Purcell
Edward Purcell (born September 8, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers. He was not drafted by any NHL team. Playing career Amateur Purcell moved to the United States to study at and play hockey for Lake Forest Academy, a prep school north of Chicago. He then played junior hockey for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he set the career scoring mark, scoring 138 points on 39 goals and 99 assists in two seasons. Trevor Smith (ice Hockey)
Trevor Smith (born February 8, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He most recently played with the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League (AHL). Early life Smith is Jewish, and was born in Ottawa, Ontario. He is the son of Harvey Smith. His parents are originally from Montreal, Quebec. Smith grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. His father has coached Canada's ice hockey team in the Maccabiah Games. Chad Rau
Chad Anthony Jerome Rau (born January 18, 1987) is an American professional ice hockey forward who last played for Glasgow Clan in the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League. Rau previously played for HC Slovan Bratislava of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and Minnesota Wild. He was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 7th round (228th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career He spent a single season in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers in 2004–05, tallying 31 goals and 40 assists in 57 games, while receiving USHL Rookie of the Year honors. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the referee, or in some cases, the linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short-handed as opposed to full strength. When the opposing team is said to be on a '' power play'', they will have one more player on the ice than the short-handed team. The short-handed team is said to be "on the penalty kill" until the penalty expires and the penalized player returns to play. While standards vary somewhat between leagues, most leagues recognize several common varieties of penalties, as well as common infractions.
