American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. Doug Nienhuis
Douglas James Nienhuis (born February 16, 1982) is a former American football offensive lineman. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL draft. He played college football at Oregon State. Nienhuis was also a member of the New York Jets, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos in his career. Early life Nienhuis attended Woodbridge High School in Irvine, California, and won three varsity letters in basketball, two in football, and one in volleyball as a middle blocker. In football, he was a two-year starter and a two-time first-team All-Sea View League honoree. Jon Alston (born June 4, 1983) is an American screenwriter, director, producer and former National Football League (NFL) linebacker. He has written and produced on critically acclaimed shows such as ''S.W.A.T.'' and ''All American''. His first feature-length film, ''Red Butterfly'', debuted at the 23rd Annual St. Louis International Film Festival. His sophomore film, ''Augustus,'' has received 24 wins and five nominations since its debut in 2020, notably winning the Directorial Discovery Grand Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Spencer Rhett Havner AY-vner(February 2, 1983) is a former American football tight end. He was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at UCLA. Havner was also a member of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. He won Super Bowl XLV with the Packers over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mosiula Mea'alofa "Lofa" Tatupu (born November 15, 1982) is a former American football linebacker who played six seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was an assistant linebackers coach with the Seattle Seahawks. He played college football for the University of Southern California (USC). Tatupu was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Early years Tatupu was born in San Diego, California and graduated in 2001 from King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts, where he played quarterback and linebacker in his junior and senior year. Matthew Arthur Grootegoed (born May 6, 1982) is a former American college and professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the University of Southern California, and was recognized as an All-American. He was signed by the NFL's Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2005, and also played for the CFL's Calgary Stampeders in 2009. Early years Grootegoed was born in Huntington Beach, California. Haloti Ngata
Etuini Haloti Ngata (; born January 21, 1984) is a former American football defensive tackle. He played college football for the University of Oregon and earned consensus All-American honors. Ngata was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and was selected for the Pro Bowl five times. Ngata played for the Ravens for nine seasons before being traded to the Detroit Lions before the 2015 NFL season. Ngata was also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles for one season in 2018 before retiring. Early years Ngata, of Tongan ancestry, was born in Inglewood, California. Ryan Riddle (born July 5, 1981) is a former professional American, Canadian and Arena football defensive end. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders as a linebacker in the sixth round, with the 38th pick (212th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at University of California, Berkeley. Riddle has also been a member of the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Avengers and Calgary Stampeders. He played college football for the University of Southern California (USC), and was recognized as a consensus All-American. The Detroit Lions chose him in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
