2003 Tour De Las Américas
The 2003 Tour de las Américas, titled as the 2003 American Express Tour de las Américas for sponsorship reasons, was the 12th season of the Tour de las Américas (formerly the South American Tour), the main professional golf tour in Latin America since it was formed in 1991. American Express title sponsorship In May, it was announced that the tour had signed a title sponsorship agreement with American Express, being renamed as the American Express Tour de las Américas. Andrés Romero
Andrés Fabián Romero (born 8 May 1981) is an Argentine professional golfer who plays on both the PGA Tour and European Tour. Career Romero was born in Tucumán. He won his European Tour card by finishing 14th on the Challenge Tour rankings in 2005. His rookie season included a tied for second finish at the Scottish Open and a tied for eighth finish in The Open Championship. Romero finished placed 35th on the Order of Merit. In the 2007 Open Championship, Romero placed third, behind Sergio García and Pádraig Harrington, making ten birdies on the last day of play. He briefly led the field by two strokes, but made a double bogey on the 17th hole and a bogey on the 18th to miss a play-off by one shot. Sebastián Fernández (golfer)
Sebastián Fernández (born 8 September 1973) is an Argentina, Argentine professional golfer. Fernández was born in Buenos Aires. He worked as a caddie in Buenos Aires, before turning professional in 1991. He won the Argentine Tour Order of Merit in 2000. He won three Argentine PGA Championships, in 1991, 2001 and 2005, the first as an 18-year-old, and also came second in 2003. Fernández competed on the Challenge Tour from 2003 to 2007, winning one tournament, the Costa Rica Open in 2003, and finishing second in the Skandia PGA Open (Sweden) in 2003, the Costa Rica Open in 2005 and the Challenge of Ireland in 2006. Mexican Open (golf)
The Mexican Open (), also known as the Mexico Open and Abierto Mexicano de Golf, is the national open golf tournament of Mexico. History First played in 1944 at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, it was an event on the Tour de las Américas between 2003 and 2006, being co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour from 2004 to 2006. It became a Nationwide Tour event in 2008 Nationwide Tour, 2008, and was rescheduled from December to January, which resulted in no tournament in 2007. Due to the 2009 swine flu pandemic, outbreak of swine flu in 2009 Nationwide Tour, 2009, the Mexican Open was rescheduled from May to September. Carlos Franco
Carlos Daniel Franco (born 24 May 1965) is a Paraguayan professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He is the brother of golfer Ángel Franco. Franco was born in Asunción, the Paraguayan capital. He comes from a poor background and grew up in a one-room, dirt-floor home. His father was a greenkeeper and caddie, and he has five brothers, all of whom became golf professionals. Carlos turned professional in 1986 and has played in many parts of the world. He has won more than twenty tournaments in Latin America, and from 1994 to 1999 he won five times on the Japan Golf Tour. He also won the 1994 Philippine Open title on the Asia Golf Circuit and claimed the Order of Merit title that season. James Hepworth (born 10 June 1975) is an English professional golfer. Hepworth was born in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
