The 2001–02 Ukrainian First League was the eleventh season of the Ukrainian First League which was won by FC Volyn Lutsk, SC Volyn-1 Lutsk. The season started on July 17, 2001, and finished on June 16, 2002. Ukrainian First League
The Persha Liha ( ) or Ukrainian First League is a Ukrainian football league system, level of national football competitions (second tier) in Ukraine governed by the Professional Football League of Ukraine, Professional Football League at the discretion of the Ukrainian Association of Football. Members of the league also participate in the Ukrainian Cup. The league is the intermediate level of competitions within the three-tiered "competition pyramid". History The league was set up by the newly reorganized Football Federation of Ukraine (a successor of the Football Federation of the Ukrainian SSR) with the dissolution of the Soviet Union, falling apart Soviet Union as a second tier, lower than Ukrainian Higher League (Vyshcha Liha) and higher that Ukrainian Transitional League (Perekhidna Liha). FC Karpaty-2 Lviv
Football Club Karpaty-2 Lviv () was the reserve team of Karpaty Lviv. It is considered their junior squad with most of the players under 20 years of age. In 2010-2012 the team participated in the championship of the Lviv Oblast. History Karpaty-2 were originally formed in the Ukrainian Second League back in 1997. However, in 2001 FC Lviv that competed in the Ukrainian First League was merged with Karpaty and FC Lviv was replaced with Karpaty-2, while the original team in the Second League was renamed to Karpaty-3. At the end of 2003–04 season Karpaty Lviv were relegated which automatically caused its other two teams to move down the championship leagues. Coincidentally, the Premier League introduced the competition for reserves parallel to its league for 2004–05 season. Since returning to the Premiers for 2006–07 Karpaty introduced its own Reserve team based on the withdrawn Karpaty-3 in that championship. FC Dnipro-2 Dnipropetrivsk
FC Dnipro-2 () was the reserve team of FC Dnipro. History The club initially competed in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast competition as FC Dnipro-2 Dnipropetrovsk . In 1997 the club was entered into the professional leagues to compete in the Second League. In 2004, when the PFL organised a competition for reserve teams of Premier League clubs the club moved into that competition. In 2010 the club was entered as Dnipro's third team in the professional leagues as Dnipro-2. MFС Mykolaiv (''Municipal Football Club "Mykolaiv"'', ) was a Ukrainian football club based in Mykolaiv. It is one of the oldest football clubs that exists in Ukraine. FC Nyva Vinnytsia is a Ukrainian professional association football, football club based in the city of Vinnytsia. The name "Nyva" translates to "grain field". The club was originally created in 1958 in the Soviet Union and folded in 2005 and 2012, but was reformed again in 2015 as Nyva-V and renamed back to Nyva in 2018. FC Spartak Ivano-Frankivsk was a Ukrainian football team based in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine, the unofficial capital of the Prykarpattia region. History The club was founded in 1940 after the Soviet occupation of the Eastern Poland during the World War II. All previous local sports clubs were liquidated and replaced with "proletarian". Football Club Naftovyk Okhtyrka is a Ukraine, Ukrainian amateur association football, football club based in Okhtyrka, Sumy Oblast, where it was founded in 1980. The name of the club means "oiler" in Ukrainian. Ukrnafta company owned the club between 2004 and 2018. The club was dissolved in July 2018, but refounded again in 2020. History Naftovyk Okhtyrka was created as a team of the Oil and Gaz administration "Okhtyrkanaftogaz" (today part of Ukrnafta) in 1980. Naftovyk Okhtyrka took part in the first Ukrainian Premier League season in 1992, after being initially chosen to participate for being the Ukrainian SSR Champion in 1991 (Note: republican level championships were part of Soviet Second League B). FC Borysfen Boryspil
FC Borysfen Boryspil is a formerly professional Ukrainian football club from Boryspil, Ukraine. The club was created as a phoenix club in 1997 by Ihor Kovalevych after disagreement in FC CSKA Kyiv (today FC Arsenal Kyiv). The history of the club is controversial and its admission to professional competitions is dubious. In mid 1990s the original team of Zlobenko reached some agreement with the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (CSK ZSU) after which there was established a joint team "CSKA-Borysfen" that became the first successful debutant of the Ukrainian Vyshcha Liha (today Ukrainian Premier League) finishing among top 5 at the end of season.
