2000 Tri Nations Series
The 2000 Tri Nations Series was the fifth Tri Nations Series, an annual rugby union competition contested by the national rugby union teams of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It was played from 15 July to 26 August 2000. Australia won the tournament for the first time after a 19–18 win over South Africa in Durban. The opening game of the tournament between Australia and New Zealand attracted a world record rugby union crowd of 109,874 to Stadium Australia. Percy Montgomery
Percival Colin Montgomery (born 15 March 1974) is a Namibian-born South African former professional rugby union player. When he ended his international career in August 2008, he held the all-time records for both cap (sport), caps and points for South Africa national rugby union team, South Africa's national team, known as the Springboks. Victor Matfield (born 11 May 1977) is a South African former professional rugby union player. Mark Gregory Andrews (born 21 February 1972) is a former South African rugby union player. Career He achieved his Junior Springbok colours in waterpolo while still at school. He switched to rugby union as his main sport and achieved honours while at school and was selected for the schools team to play at the 1990 Craven Week tournament. While at university he was selected for the SA Student team in 1993 and the SA Universities team in 1994. He played for 's winning Currie Cup team in 1995 and 1996. André Vos
André Neal Vos (born 9 January 1975) is a former South African rugby union player who played as a loose forward for Eastern Province (South Africa), Queensland Reds (Australia), The Cats, The Lions and Harlequins (England) until his retirement in 2007. Rugby career He also captained the Springboks. Vos attended Selborne College in East London, South Africa (he represented Border at the 1992 Craven Week) and the then University of Port Elizabeth. André Venter
André Gerhardus Venter (born 14 November 1970 in Vereeniging, South Africa) is a former South African rugby union footballer who earned 66 caps playing for the South Africa national team during the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s. He represented South Africa during the 1999 Rugby World Cup where they finished third. A few years after his retirement he was diagnosed with a degenerative syndrome of the central nervous system, later revealed to be transverse myelitis, which causes damage to the spine, and forced him into a wheelchair. Robert Brian Skinstad (born 3 July 1976) is a former rugby union professional player who has represented the South Africa national team, the Springboks. He played in the positions of flanker and number eight. Early life and education Skinstad is of British and Irish descent, and his surname is of Norwegian origin. Joost Van Der Westhuizen
Joost van der Westhuizen (20 February 1971 – 6 February 2017) was a South African professional rugby union player who made 89 appearances in test matches for the national team, scoring 38 tries. He mostly played as a scrum-half and participated in three Rugby World Cups, most notably in the 1995 tournament, which was won by South Africa. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest scrumhalves in the history of this sport. He captained the national side on ten occasions and was part of the team that won South Africa's first Tri-Nations title in 1998. Andrew David "Butch" James (born 8 January 1979) is a South African former professional rugby union player who represented 40 times and was a member of the team that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Dean Bradley Hall (born 2 September 1977) is a South African former professional rugby player. He played on the wing. He played the majority of his career for the Johannesburg based teams, the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup and the Cats in Super Rugby. Later in his career he moved to Durban and played for the in the Currie Cup, the Natal Wildebeest in the Vodacom Cup and the Sharks in Super Rugby. Marius Joubert
Marius Charl Joubert (born 10 July 1979 in Paarl, Western Cape) is a South African rugby union player who played as a centre for Stormers in Super Rugby. He has previously played for the Boland Cavaliers, Free State Cheetahs, ASM Clermont Auvergne and Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Stormers and the Cheetahs in Super Rugby.
