2000–01 A Group
The 2000–01 A Group was the 53rd season of the A Football Group, the top Bulgarian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1948. The league was contested by the top 12 teams from the 1999–2000 season as well as Cherno More Varna and Hebar Pazardzhik, who joined as the promoted clubs from the 1999–2000 B Group. Defending champions Levski Sofia won their 22nd Bulgarian league title overall. Botev Plovdiv and Minyor Pernik were relegated at the end of the season by finishing in the last two places. Teams Fourteen teams competed in the league – the top twelve teams from the previous season and the two teams promoted from the B Group. The promoted teams were Cherno More Varna (returning to the top flight after a six-year absence) and Hebar Pazardzhik (returning after an eight-year absence). First Professional Football League (Bulgaria)
The First Professional Football League (), commonly known as Parva Liga or Bulgarian First League (currently known as the efbet League for sponsorship reasons), is a professional association football league in Bulgaria and the highest level of the Bulgarian football league system. Contested by 16 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Second Professional Football League. The Bulgarian football championship was inaugurated in 1924 as the '' Bulgarian State Football Championship'' and has been played in a league format since 1948, when the A Group was established. The champions of the First League have the right to participate in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League based on the league's European coefficient. FC Volov Shumen
Football Club Volov Shumen 2007 () is a Bulgarian football club, playing in the city of Shumen, which currently competes in Third League, third tier of Bulgarian football. The club was established in 1929 under the name "Panayot Volov", and folded its senior team in 2014, before being 'refounded' in July 2018. In 2024 Volov merged with Shumen 2007 to form Volov Shumen 2007. Shumen plays their home games on "Panayot Volov” stadium, with a historic capacity of 24,390 people and a current one of 3,500. The team's first kit colors are yellow and blue. Because of the city's famous brand of Shumensko beer, they are often affectionately called Пивоварите, or ''The Brewers''. Stadion Hristo Botev () is a football stadium in the Kamenitsa neighbourhood of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. It is the home of Botev Plovdiv. Originally named ''The College'', it is still popular by this name amongst fans, as in the early 20th century the pitch was owned by Saint Augustine Catholic College. The stadium hosted the 2000 Bulgarian Cup Final. Since the middle of 2014 the stadium's reconstruction is on hold, due to the lack of financing.
