2000 New Orleans Saints Season
The 2000 season was the New Orleans Saints' 34th in the National Football League (NFL) and their 25th playing home games at the Louisiana Superdome. The Saints were looking to improve on their 3–13 finish from a year earlier under new head coach Jim Haslett who replaced Mike Ditka. Not only did the Saints do so, but they finished with a 10–6 record to win the NFC West and advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 1992. They also won their first ever playoff game in franchise history by defeating the defending Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams in the wild-card round. The Saints went no further, though, as they lost to the Minnesota Vikings in the next round. This was the only time the Saints made the playoffs under Haslett. NFC West
The National Football Conference – Western Division or NFC West is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Terry Allen (running Back)
Terry Thomas Allen Jr. (born February 21, 1968) is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons. Allen played college football for the Clemson Tigers. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the ninth round of the 1990 NFL draft. Between 1992 and 1996, Allen had four consecutive seasons of rushing for 1,000 or more yards, minus the 1993 season which he missed completely due to an injury. Billy Joe Hobert (born January 8, 1971) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL), primarily as a reserve. He played college football for the Washington Huskies. Darren Perry (born December 29, 1968) is an American former professional football player who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions from 1988 to 1991. After graduating, he was selected in the eighth round of the 1992 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kevin Bryant Mathis (born April 29, 1974) is an American football coach and former cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). Eddie Joseph Kennison, III (born January 20, 1973) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Willie Jake Reed (born September 28, 1967) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) from 1991 to 2002 for the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. Kevin Danyelle Mitchell (January 1, 1971 – April 30, 2007) was an American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He played for the San Francisco 49ers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Washington Redskins. College career Mitchell played college football at Syracuse University as a defensive tackle. 2006 New Orleans Saints Season
The 2006 season was the New Orleans Saints' 40th in the National Football League (NFL). The season began with the team returning to New Orleans after a year in exile from the city, and trying to improve on their 3–13 record in 2005. All of the team's 2006 regular season home games were played in the Louisiana Superdome, which had been unplayable for the entire 2005 season after being damaged during Hurricane Katrina.
