2000 In Armenian Football
2000 in Armenian football (soccer), football was the ninth season of independent football after the split-up from the Soviet Union. The Armenian Premier League for 2000 existed of 8 teams of which the lowest ranked teams would relegate to the Armenian First League. The seventh ranked team would enter the promotion/relegation play-off with the second ranked team of the First League. However it was decided that none of the Premier League teams would be relegated and four clubs were promoted from the First League, as well as FC Banants that was given a place at the highest level for the 2001 season. In the last few weeks Ararat, Zvartnots-AAL, Dinamo and Mika all refused to play once or more times as they were demanding fair play and claiming that referees penalised them repeatedly in favour of Araks that eventually won the title due to the awarded 3-0 victories in their favour. Flag Of Armenia
The national flag of Armenia (), also known as the Tricolour (), consists of three horizontal bands of equal width, red on the top, blue in the middle, and orange on the bottom. FC Lernagorts Kapan
FC Lernagorts Kapan (), is a defunct Armenian football club from Kapan, Syunik Province. History Lernagorts Kapan was founded in 1963 during the Soviet period. After the independence of Armenia, the club participated in the first Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union under the name Syunik Kapan. After the regular competition, they qualified for the championship stage, where they finished in 6th position, thus being qualified for the highest level in the 1993 season. However, they withdrew before the start of the season. Since then they have been up and down between the two divisions of the Armenian football league system. FC Kilikia Yerevan
Kilikia Football Club (), is Armenian football club from the capital Yerevan. History Beginning Kilikia F.C. was founded in 1992 and participated in the first ever independent Armenian championship. In 1992, they occupied the 12th spot in the table, and were allowed to play in the 1993 Armenian Premier League. At the beginning of 1993, the club merged with fellow financially struggling club FC Malatia. The merger lasted only for 1 year, as the team was relegated to the Armenian First League. In early 1994, the two clubs were separated and disbanded. Revival in 1997 Kilikia F.C. was revived in 1997, but did not participate in the league until 1999. In 1999, Kilikia F.C. had replaced the financially struggling club Pyunik Yerevan in the Premier League. FC Kotayk () was an Armenian football club based in the town of Abovyan, Kotayk Province. History Founded in 1955, Kotayk was one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia. Arman Karamyan (; born 14 November 1979) is an Armenian retired professional footballer and former international for the Armenia national team. Arman is the twin brother of fellow football player Artavazd Karamyan. Club career Arabkir Arman Karamyan began playing football as a senior in 1996. Football Club Shirak (), commonly known as Shirak, is an Armenia, Armenian professional sports club based in Gyumri. Shirak is known for its professional association football, football team which is one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia, having been created in 1958. Artur Petrosyan (; born 17 December 1971) is an Armenian football coach and a former midfielder. He is the manager of Swiss club FC Thalwil. Playing career Petrosyan was the all-time leading scorer for the Armenia national team, having scored 11 goals, and had participated in 69 international matches since his debut in the national team's first game in a home friendly match against Moldova on 14 October 1992.
