Samvel Aleksanyan
Samvel Limindri Aleksanyan (Armenian: Սամվել Լիմինդրի Ալեքսանյան; born August 19, 1968, Yerevan, Armenian SSR), former deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia, oligarch and businessman. Biography Samvel Aleksanyan was born on August 19, 1968, in Yerevan. He attended Yerevan School No. 112 and served in the Soviet army from 1988 to 1990. In 1990 worked as a skilled worker in a factory producing sanitation technologies. In 1993 he was head of a production unit of metal constructions. For the past decade he has had his own business. From 2003-2007 he was a deputy in the NA. He was a member of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs. Samvel Melkonyan
Samvel Melkonyan (, born on 15 March 1984 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union) is an Armenian former footballer who played as a winger. Samvel was also a member of the Armenia national football team, participated in 29 international matches since his debut at home 2006 World Cup qualification match against the Netherlands on 3 September 2005. Club career Samvel began his professional career playing for Spartak Yerevan. When Spartak merged with Banants, Samvel Melkonyan automatically transferred to Banants. He has been one of the stars at his new club for the past few years. Melkonyan transferred to Ukrainian club Metalurh Donetsk in 2008, but his spell there was not successful and he returned to Banants the following year. Hakob Melik Hakobian ( ( classical); 1835 – 25 April 1888), better known by his pen name Raffi (), was an Armenian author and leading figure in 19th-century Armenian literature. He is considered one of the most influential and popular modern Armenian authors. His works, especially his historical novels, played an important role in the development of modern Armenian nationalism. Ara Baliozian described him as Armenia's "greatest novelist of the 19th century." Biography Raffi was born in 1835 in the village of Payajuk in the district of Salmas in northwestern Iran. Samuel (novel)
''Samuel'' (, pre-reform orthography: ) is an 1886 Armenian-language historical novel by the novelist Raffi. Considered by some critics his most successful work, the plot centers on the killing of the fourth-century prince Vahan Mamikonian and his wife by their son Samuel. It was first published in parts in the Tiflis newspaper in 1886–87 and released as a separate edition in 1888. Background Raffi wrote ''Samuel'' as a response to the closing of Armenian schools in the Russian Empire in 1885. He saw this move as an attack against the Armenian language and therefore "an attack on the very essence of the Armenian ethos and the sole bond of unity for a nation in dispersion." Raffi drew parallels between the current situation and the invasion of Armenia by Sasanian Iran in the fourth century, depicting an attempt to destroy Armenian culture and language by a foreign invader. Samvel Yervinyan (, born January 25, 1966) is an Armenian Violin, violinist and composer. Biography Yervinyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia. He began studying at the age of 9 in Alexander Spendiarian, Spenderian Music School under the tutoring of Armen Minasian. In the competitions he participated, he won all the first place prizes in his age group. He played Henry Vieuxtemps' 2nd concert on his graduation day and received a standing ovation from all the faculty members. He continued his studies at Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Tchaikovsky's Music Conservatory, under the guidance and tutoring of Maestro Edward Dayan. Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (; born 19 September 1993) is an Armenian chess grandmaster. Career He won the 2003 Under 10 and 2009 Under 18 European Youth Chess Championship. He completed the Grandmaster requirements on 18 September 2008 during the European U16 championship, when his rating reached 2500, the title confirmed by FIDE in 2009. At the 2008 World U18 championship, Ter-Sahakyan scored 8 points of 11to finish fourth on tiebreak. He won the 2011 World U18 Chess Championship. Samvel Sergeyi Shahramanyan (born 1 December 1978) is an Armenian politician who served as the 5th and final president of the Republic of Artsakh from 10 September 2023 to 21 May 2025. He also served as the leader of the Republic of Artsakh government in exile. He was also State Minister from August to September 2023. Samvel Sevada Grigoryan (; born September 12, 1949), is an Armenian artist, photographer and poet. Biography Sevada was born in the city of Gyumri, Armenia. In 1974, he graduated from Yerevan's State Fine Arts and Theater Institute. Since 1980, he has been a member of the Armenian Union of Artists, and since 2009, a Member of the Armenian Union of Photographers. From 1996 to 1998, Sevada was the general painter of Yerevan. From 1990 to 2006, he lived and worked in the USA, opening the first Armenian painting school in the US in 1990. Sevada set up Sevada Art Studio in Yerevan.
