The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television's 14th Gemini Awards were held on November 7, 1999, to honour achievements in Canadian television. Metro Toronto Convention Centre (originally and still colloquially Metro Convention Centre, and sometimes MTCC), is a convention complex located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada along Front Street (Toronto), Front Street West in the former Railway Lands in downtown Toronto. The property is today owned by Oxford Properties. The centre is operated by the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre Corporation, an independent agency of the Government of Ontario. Ken Finkleman
Ken Finkleman (born 1946) is a Canadian television and film writer, producer, director, actor, and novelist. Biography Finkleman was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In Canada, Finkleman is best known as the writer, creator and producer of the CBC Television series '' The Newsroom'', in which he starred as television news producer George Findlay. He later produced a number of other series for Canadian television as well, including '' Married Life'', '' Foolish Heart'', '' Foreign Objects'', ''More Tears'', ''Good Dog'', and '' Good God''. Robert Lantos
Robert Lantos (born 3 April 1949) is a Hungarian-Canadian film producer. Life and career Lantos was born on 3 April 1949 in Budapest, the son of Ágnes (Bodor) and László Lantos, a mechanic and truck company owner. Lantos spent much of his childhood in Montevideo, Uruguay, where his family fled after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. He immigrated to Canada in 1963. Lantos is Jewish. Lantos studied literature at McGill University in Montreal and graduated with a BA (1970) and an MA (1972). Following graduation from McGill, he founded Vivafilm which imported and distributed foreign films across Canada. He later started a production company, RSL Entertainment, which produced fifteen films, most notably George Kaczender's '' In Praise of Older Women'' and Ted Kotcheff's '' Joshua Then and Now''. Company Pictures is a British television production company which has produced drama programming for many broadcasters. It was set up in 1998 by Charles Pattinson and George S. J. Faber, George Faber, colleagues at BBC Films. Their first film was ''Morvern Callar (film), Morvern Callar'', which was credited as a co-production with BBC Films as they had begun developing it while still employed there. In 2003 Company Pictures became part of All3Media. ''Shot Through the Heart'' is a 1998 television film directed by David Attwood, shown on the BBC and HBO in 1998, which covers the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War.
