1997–98 WOAA Senior League Season
The 1997–98 WOAA Senior League season was the 8th season of the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League. The league played a regular season schedule which began in October 1997 and concluded in February 1998. The post-season began in February 1998 and concluded in April 1998. The Durham Thundercats won the Sr. "AA" championship, defeating the Milverton Four Wheel Drives in four games. WOAA Senior AA Hockey League
The Ontario Elite Hockey League is a Canadian senior ice hockey league governed by the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. The league operates in Southwestern Ontario. As of the 2024–25 season, the champion of the OEHL will be eligible to challenge the champion of Allan Cup Hockey for a spot in the Canadian national Senior AAA championship and a chance to win the Allan Cup. Formerly known as the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League, and governed by the autonomous Western Ontario Athletic Association, in the summer of 2023 ten of the twelve existing teams voted to leave the WOAA and reform under the umbrella of the Ontario Hockey Association. Tavistock, Ontario
East Zorra-Tavistock is a township in southwestern Ontario, Canada, formed on 1 January 1975 through the amalgamation of the Township of East Zorra and the Village of Tavistock. It is part of Oxford County. The township had a population of 7,129 in the Canada 2016 Census. Dundalk, Ontario
Dundalk (named after Dundalk in Ireland), first called McDowell's Corners, was originally located on the Toronto-Sydenham Road (now Hwy.10), but moved about a mile to the west to be closer to the Toronto Grey and Bruce railway when it went through in the 1870s. Dundalk was incorporated as a village in 1887. On January 1, 2000, it was amalgamated with the Township of Proton and the Township of Egremont to form the Township of Southgate, in the southeast corner of Grey County. The mayor of Southgate is Briane Milne. Dundalk services the surrounding agricultural area and also has a few small manufacturing plants. Dundalk has the highest elevation of any populated place in southern Ontario at 526m (1,726 feet). A rail line that used to pass through Dundalk is now removed, but its roadbed has become a multi-use trail sponsored by the federal government. Arthur, Ontario
Arthur (population 2,628) is a community located just north of Ontario Highway 6, Highway 6 and Wellington County Road 109, Wellington Road 109 in the township (Canada), township of Wellington North, Ontario, Canada. Formerly an independent village, Arthur was amalgamated into Wellington North on January 1, 1999. History The village was named after Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. Settlers began arriving in 1840. The area was first surveyed in 1841 by John McDonald and then officially in 1846 by D.B. Papineau. During the first survey in 1841, the population of Arthur was 22 people. Over the next 15 years, this number rose to 400, and by 1900, the population had risen to just over 1500. Mildmay Monarchs
The Mildmay Monarchs were a senior hockey team based out of Mildmay, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Championships The Monarchs, who played in the WOAA from 2003–2007, never won a WOAA Championship, and no previous Mildmay team has ever been WOAA champions either. Mildmay's teams has won at least 15 Ontario Hockey Association and Ontario Minor Hockey Association championships since 1955. The First Monarchs were formed in 1946, and over the years there have been many different versions of the Mildmay Monarchs. 2006–07 Monarchs season Mildmay finished in 7th place in the North Division with a 6-16-2 record. Clinton Radars
The Clinton Radars are a senior hockey team based out of Clinton, Ontario, Canada. The team was founded in 1994. They play in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. In September 2022, the club issued a statement announcing the club's withdrawal from WOAA Senior Hockey League. In addition to thanking the fans and sponsors, the statement also included the possibility of a return for the 2023–24 season, which, however, did not materialize. The Goderich Pirates were a senior hockey team based out of Goderich, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. Ripley Wolves
The Ripley Wolves are a senior ice hockey, hockey team based out of Ripley, Ontario, Ripley, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Championships The Ripley Wolves have won the WOAA Sr. "B" Championship twice in their history, during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. Lucknow Lancers
The Lucknow Lancers are a senior hockey team based out of Lucknow, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Championships In 1996–97, Lucknow captured the Senior "B" championship, and in 1988-89, they were Intermediate "D" champs. 2006–07 Lancers season Lucknow, coming off an 18-6-1 record in 2005-06, had the best record in the regular season in 2006-07, going 20-2-2. The Lancers finished the season on a 12-0-1 streak, and they scored a season high fifteen goals in a 15-6 win over the Drayton Icemen on October 22. Dundalk Flyers
Dundalk ( ; ) is the county town of County Louth, Ireland. The Arthur Tigers were a Canadian senior hockey team based in Arthur, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League. History Arthur has had numerous hockey teams nicknamed the Tigers since 1904 (perhaps as early as 1899), with the most recent team playing in the WOAA from 1985 to 1999.
