1991 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1991 Swedish speedway season was the 1991 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1991 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held in Vetlanda on 21 September. Peter Karlsson won the Swedish Championship for the second time. U21 Championship Jorgen Hultgren won the U21 championship. Team Team Championship Indianerna won the Elitserien and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the second successive season. The Indianerna team included Henrik Gustafsson, Christer Rohlén, Mikael Blixt, Lars Gunnestad and Stefan Dannö. Brassarna changed their name to Nässjö and Örebro changed their name to Buddys. Dackarna won the first division and Kaparna won the second division. The 1990 Swedish speedway season was the 1990 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1990 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held in Stockholm on 22 September. Tony Rickardsson won the Swedish Championship for the first time. U21 Championship Joakim Karlsson won the U21 championship. Team Team Championship Indianerna won the Elitserien and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the first time. The Indianerna team included Henrik Gustafsson, Christer Rohlén, Lars Gunnestad, Simon Wigg and Stefan Dannö. Eskilstuna and Karlstad merged for the 1990 season. Skepparna won the first division, while Masarna and Korparna won the second division north and south respectively. Patrick Karlsson (speedway Rider)
Lars Patric Karlsson (born 9 November 1967) is a retired Swedish football striker. He started his senior career in IFK Eskilstuna, including a spell in IF Verdandi. He took a spell in IFK Luleå before trying his luck in Norway and Lillestrøm SK in 1993. He also played the autumn of 1994 in Vålerenga IF. Returning to Sweden, he got one season in IFK Norrköping and half a season in Örgryte IS before going abroad again, to Greece's Olympiacos Volou. Vikingarna Speedway
Vikingarna () are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Örebro Motorstadion, 9 km west of Örebro, near Örebro Airport in Sweden. Season summary History 1950 to 1954 The beginning of competitive league speedway in Örebro can be traced back to the 1950 Swedish speedway season. A club called Vikingarna finished last out of four teams in the second division. However, the following season in 1951, was much improved to the degree that the team actually won the six team division. The team competed in the highest tier for the first time during the 1952 Swedish speedway season (called division 1 at the time) but struggled in the division and were eventually relegated. A young Göte Nordin rode for the club from 1952 to 1954 and he helped them win division 2 again in 1953. Lars Gunnestad
Lars Gunnestad (born 18 February 1971 in Drammen, Norway) is a former Norwegian international motorcycle speedway rider. He won the Individual Speedway Norwegian Championship a record ten times. His son, Lars Daniel, is speedway rider also. Lars Daniel finished fifth in the 2009 Norwegian Championship. Career summary Gunnestad first came to prominence in 1988 when he won his first Norwegian title at the age of 17. His first British club was Sheffield in 1991, who competed in the British League Division Two. Gunnestad missed the British speedway season in 1992, but returned in 1993 when he was signed by British League team the Poole Pirates with whom he would spend this rest of his British career. Gunnestad became a popular rider at Poole and eventually received a testimonial meeting there in 2001. He appeared in five Speedway Grand Prix meetings as a wild card. Mikael Blixt (born 8 August 1964) is a former speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Blixt rode in the top tier of British Speedway during the 1982 British League season, riding for the Poole Pirates. He returned nine years later to compete in the 1991 British League season for the Berwick Bandits. Christer Rohlén
Christer Karlsson Rohlén (born 7 April 1967) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. Career Rohlén started his career riding for Indianerna in 1983. He would spend nine seasons with the club and reached the final of the 1988 Junior World Championship. He won his first of six Swedish Speedway Team Championships with Indianerna in 1990. In 1992, he joined Örnarna from Indianerna and would go on to win four more Elitserien titles in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1996. In 1994, he made his British leagues debut with Arena Essex Hammers for the 1994 British League season. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") ( sv, Elitserien i speedway) is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top 7 Swedish speedway teams. The first season began in 1982. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway.
