1990–91 European Cup
The 1990–91 European Cup was the 36th season of the European Cup, a tournament for men's football clubs in nations affiliated to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It was won for the first time by Red Star Belgrade on penalties in the final against Marseille; both were first-time finalists. This was only the second time that an Eastern European side had won the competition, after Steaua București of Romania in 1986. It was also the last tournament to be solely knock-out based, with a group stage added for the next season. Red Star won the tournament as the only Yugoslav club shortly before the breakup of Yugoslavia. This was also the last season to feature a team from East Germany, since the East and its West counterpart reunified in October 1990. Stadio San Nicola
Stadio San Nicola () is a multi-use all-seater stadium designed by Renzo Piano in Bari, Italy. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of SSC Bari. It replaced their previous home, Stadio della Vittoria, in 1990. The stadium's design resembles a flower. To create this particular design, the stadium consists of 26 'petals' and upper tiers of the higher ring separated by 8-metre empty spaces, sufficient to guarantee satisfactory security conditions. Being the third largest football stadium in Italy after Milan's San Siro and Rome's Stadio Olimpico; as well as the largest to be used by only one team, San Nicola holds 58,270 people, and was filled to capacity for the first time during a 2013–2014 Serie B playoff match for A.S. UEFA Coefficient
In European football, the UEFA coefficients are statistics based in weighted arithmetic means used for ranking and seeding teams in club and international competitions. Introduced in 1979 for men's football tournaments (country rankings only), and after applied in women's football and futsal, the coefficients are calculated by UEFA, who administer football within Europe, and the Asian parts of some transcontinental countries. The 1989–90 Bundesliga was the 27th season of the Bundesliga, the premier football league in West Germany. It began on 28 July 1989 and ended on 12 May 1990. The 1989–90 Serie A season was another successful year for Napoli, with Diego Maradona being among the leading goalscorers in Serie A (16 goals), behind Marco van Basten of Milan (19 goals) and Roberto Baggio of Fiorentina (17 goals). But while Baggio's Fiorentina narrowly avoided relegation, Maradona's Napoli won their second Serie A title in four seasons, while Van Basten helped Milan retain the European Cup as compensation for their failure to win the Serie A title, having finished two points behind Napoli.
