The 1990 Swedish Golf Tour was the seventh season of the Swedish Golf Tour, the main professional golf tour in Sweden since it was formed in 1984, with most tournaments being incorporated into the Challenge Tour between 1989 and 1998. Mikael Högberg
Mikael Högberg (born 4 October 1960) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. He won the Swedish Golf Tour Order of Merit in 1990 and joined the European Tour in 1991. Amateur career Högberg finished fourth at the 1982 European Youths' Team Championship and won the 1983 Swedish International Stroke Play Championship. He represented Sweden at the 1984 Eisenhower Trophy and finished 8th together with Carl-Magnus Strömberg and Jesper Parnevik. He represented the Continent of Europe at the 1984 St Andrews Trophy at Saunton Golf Club with a team that included Fredrik Lindgren and José María Olazábal. Professional career Högberg turned professional in 1986 and joined the Swedish Golf Tour. In his first season, he won the Esab Open and finished T9 in the Scandinavian Enterprise Open, a European Tour event. Peter Carsbo
Peter Carsbo (born 23 July 1959) is a Swedish professional golfer, winner of the Viking Open on the 1990 Challenge Tour. Career Carsbo turned professional in 1984 and played on the Swedish Golf Tour where he was runner-up at several tournaments, including the 1987 Esab Open and 1988 Stiga Open. He was semi-finalist at the 1990 SM Match. In 1987 he was part of the Swedish team that was runner-up at the Europcar Cup, together with Johan Ryström, Carl-Magnus Strömberg and Magnus Sunesson. His best season on the European Tour was in 1987 when he made five cuts in 12 starts and finished 159th in the Order of Merit. Vilhelm Forsbrand
Vilhelm Forsbrand (born 15 January 1970) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on the European Tour. Career Forsbrand grew up playing golf at the 9-hole course at small Uddeholm Golf Club in Värmland, Sweden. By age 6 he competed in the unofficial National Youth Championship, Colgate Cup, at the 10-years age category and in 1980 he won the same competition. He turned professional in 1987, following in the footsteps of his older brother Anders, who became a six-time European Tour winner. Forsbrand played on the Swedish Golf Tour where he finished third on the 1990 Order of Merit, behind Mikael Högberg and Adam Mednick. Västerås Open
The Västerås Open was a golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour that featured on the Challenge Tour 1990–1994. It was played in Västerås, Sweden. The Kentab Open was first played as an amateur tournament at Västerås GC in 1978, and it was added to the Swedish Golf Tour in 1986. Starting in 1998 the tournament began rotating between Västerås GC, Frösåker G&CC, Ängsö GC and Fullerö GC. In 2007 Västerås Municipality became the main sponsor and it was rebranded the ''Västerås Mälarstaden Open''. A similarly named event, the Kentab/RBG Open, sponsored name of the 1996 Swedish PGA Championship, was played at Frösåker G&CC and featured on the 1996 Challenge Tour. Adam Mednick
Adam Mednick (born 9 September 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early life Mednick was born in Bethesda, Maryland in the United States to an American father and a Swedish mother, and moved to Sweden when he was eight years old. His great-grandparents emigrated from Kiev in the Ukraine, and the authorities in the United States changed their family name from Mednikov to Mednick. José Cantero
José María Cantero (born 8 June 1959) is an Argentine professional golfer who played on the Challenge Tour, the European Tour and the Tour de las Americas. Cantero turned professional in 1985. He played on the European Challenge Tour in 1990–1994 and he won three tournaments, all three of them taking place in Sweden, on this tour. In 1990, he finished 8th in the Challenge Tour Rankings. The Gevalia Open was a golf tournament held at Gävle Golf Club in Gävle, Sweden from 1978. It featured on the Swedish Golf Tour from its inception in 1984 and on the Challenge Tour in 1990 and 1991. It was re-named the Gefle Open in 1991, using the archaic spelling of Gävle. Eoghan O'Connell (born 13 August 1995) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Wrexham. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship).
