1990 Canoe Slalom World Cup
The 1990 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of five races in 4 canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 3rd edition. The series consisted of 4 regular world cup races and the world cup final. Calendar Final standings The winner of each world cup race was awarded 25 points. The points scale reached down to 1 point for 15th place. If two or more athletes or boats were equal on points, the ranking was determined by their positions in the world cup final. Results World Cup Race 1 The first world cup race of the season took place in Wausau, Wisconsin from 30 June to 1 July. Canoe Slalom World Cup
The ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup is an annual series of races in canoe slalom held under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. It has been held since 1988 in four canoe and kayak disciplines for men and women. The four original disciplines were men's single canoe (C1), men's double canoe (C2), men's kayak (K1) and women's kayak. A women's single canoe discipline (C1) has been added to the world cup in 2010. The men's C2 event was removed from the world cup series in 2018 and it was replaced by the mixed C2 event. 2018 was also the first time that world cup points were awarded for the extreme K1 event. Competition format The world cup is a series of individual races usually taking place during the summer months of June, July and August. The athlete (or boat) that accumulates the highest number of points from all world cup races in the given discipline becomes the overall world cup champion. Miroslav Šimek
Miroslav Šimek (, born 27 January 1959 in Turnov) is a Czechoslovak- Czech slalom canoeist who competed from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won two silver medals in the C2 event, earning them in 1992 and 1996. Šimek also won a complete set of medals in the C2 event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold in 1993, a silver in 1991, and a bronze in 1997. Richard Fox (canoeist)
Richard Munro Fox (born 5 June 1960 in Winsford, Somerset) is a British slalom canoeist who competed for Great Britain from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s. He won eleven medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with ten golds (K1: 1981, 1983, 1985, 1989, 1993; K1 team: 1979, 1981, 1983, 1987, 1993) and a bronze (K1: 1979). Fox also won the overall World Cup title three times ( 1988, 1989, 1991) and the Euro Cup (discontinued competition) four times. Pierpaolo Ferrazzi (born 23 July 1965 in Bassano del Grappa) is an Italian slalom canoeist who competed from the late 1980s to the mid-2000s (decade). Jamie McEwan
James Patrick McEwan (September 24, 1952 – June 14, 2014) was an American slalom canoeist who competed in the 1970s and then again in the 1980s and early 1990s. He teamed up with his son Devin to compete in the 2000s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the C1 event at Munich in 1972. McEwan was born in Olney, Maryland and began kayaking at his family's Valley Mill Camp. He earned a degree in literature from Yale University in 1975. He was married to children's author and illustrator Sandra Boynton, a fellow Yale graduate (class of 1974). With his partner, Lecky Haller, McEwan won a silver medal in the C2 slalom at the 1987 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bourg St.-Maurice. Lecky Haller
Jacob Alexander "Lecky" Haller (born 2 August 1957 in Glencoe, Maryland) is an American slalom canoeist who competed from the early 1980s to the early 2000s. He won four medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold (C2: 1983), two silvers (C2: 1987, C2 team: 1983) and a bronze (C2 team: 1985). He attended Washington College where he played lacrosse. In 1979 he became an All American honorable mention, and in 1980 he made the first team for All American Lacrosse. Lecky graduated from Washington College in 1981 and until 2012 a 7th grade teacher at French Broad River Academy in Asheville. Now he is a Football, Wrestling, Ski and lacrosse coach at The Asheville School in North Carolina. He is a 15-time National Champion and a two-time Olympian.
