Yukon Legislative Assembly
The Yukon Legislative Assembly () is the legislative assembly for Yukon, Canada. Unique among Canada's three territories, the Yukon Legislative Assembly is the only territorial legislature which is organized along political party lines. In contrast, in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, their legislative assemblies are elected on a non-partisan basis and operate on a consensus government model. Each member represents one electoral district, elected through first-past-the-post voting. Members of the Legislative Assembly are sworn in by the commissioner of Yukon. Alan Nordling
Alan Ronald Nordling (born May 25, 1952) is a former Canadian politician who represented the electoral district of Whitehorse Porter Creek West from 1986 to 1992 and Porter Creek South from 1992 to 1996, in the Yukon Legislative Assembly. He was a member of the Yukon Progressive Conservative Party. Nordling was first elected to the legislature in a by-election on February 10, 1986. He sat as a member of the Yukon Progressive Conservative Party until 1991, when he was one of two MLAs, along with Bea Firth, who quit the caucus in protest against the party's change of name to the Yukon Party. Firth and Nordling thereafter sat as the only members of the Independent Alliance. Maurice Byblow
Maurice John Byblow (June 23, 1946 – February 11, 2020) was a Canadians, Canadian politician, who represented the electoral district (Canada), electoral district of Faro (electoral district), Faro in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1978 to 1985 and from 1989 to 1996. Originally elected as an independent (politics), independent, Byblow joined the Yukon New Democratic Party caucus on September 16, 1981. He retired in 1985, and was succeeded by Jim McLachlan. He was re-elected to the legislature in the 1989 Yukon general election, 1989 election, and served until 1992. He later served as an executive assistant to NDP leader Piers McDonald, and both were implicated in a conflict of interest allegation, although both McDonald and Byblow were eventually cleared. Samuel Timothy Johnston (born November 20, 1935) is a former Canadian politician in the territory of Yukon, Canada. He served as chief of the Teslin Tlingit Council from 1970 to 1984, and represented Campbell (electoral district), Campbell in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1992 as a Yukon New Democratic Party, NDP member.
