1987 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1987 Swedish speedway season was the 1987 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1987 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held in Gothenburg on 29 August. Per Jonsson won the Swedish Championship for the second successive year. U21 Championship Henrik Gustafsson won the U21 championship for the second consecutive year. Team Team Championship Vetlanda won the Elitserien and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the sixth time and second year in succession. The Vetlanda team included Jan Andersson, Kenneth Nyström, Conny Ivarsson and Conny Samuelsson. Gamarna won the first division, while Griparna and Brassarna won the second division north and south respectively. U21 Championship Winner - Henrik Gustafsson Team Team Championship Njudungarna changed their name to Vetlanda, they won the Elitserien and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the fifth time. Conny Samuelsson
Conny Samuelsson (born 15 August 1947) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Samuelsson won the silver medal at the Individual Ice Speedway World Championship in the 1977 Individual Ice Speedway World Championship. He had won a bronze medal the previous year in the 1976 Individual Ice Speedway World Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway in 1969 riding for Oxford Cheetahs. It was the only club outside of the Njudungarna team that he ever rode for. He spent 35 years riding for Njudungarna. He was capped 9 times by the Sweden national speedway team. Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. Griparna is a speedway club from Nyköping in Sweden, who compete in the Allsvenskan. Their home track is at the Nyköpings Motorstadion which is located to the North of Nyköping. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") ( sv, Elitserien i speedway) is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top 7 Swedish speedway teams. The first season began in 1982. Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien, they changed the name of club to VMS Elit. The current name Vetlanda Speedway was adopted in 2018. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play off.
