The 1982–83 Iraq FA Cup was the seventh edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition. The tournament was won by Al-Jaish for the second time, beating Al-Shabab 2–1 in the final, with Hassan Farhan and Sadiq Ghanim scoring for Al-Jaish and Falah Hassan scoring for Al-Shabab. The quarter-finals saw Al-Tayaran (now known as Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya) beat Al-Zawraa 2–1 in a Baghdad Derby on 5 January 1983 with Khalid Fadhel and Hanoon Mashkoor scoring for Al-Tayaran and Thamir Yousef scoring for Al-Zawraa, before Al-Tayaran were knocked out by Al-Shabab in the semi-final 4–2 on penalties. Iraq FA Cup
The Iraq Cup (), commonly known as the Iraq FA Cup, is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in men's domestic Football in Iraq, Iraqi football organised by the Iraq Football Association. First held in the 1948–49 season for clubs and institutions, it returned in the 1975–76 season as a clubs-only competition. The tournament usually begins with several rounds played between lower division clubs, twelve of which advance to the Round of 32, where the Iraq Stars League clubs are entered. This is followed by the Round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final which is played as a single leg in Baghdad. The winners of the competition are awarded a place in the next season's AFC Champions League Two group stage. Al-Zawra'a Sports Club () is an Iraqi professional sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team competes in the Iraq Stars League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawra'a have won the most major honours of any club in Iraq, having won 14 league titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups—all record totals. Thamir Yousef
Elias Thamir Yousif () (born 1 July 1953) was an Assyrian football player. A long time Al Zawra member, Thamir led the Iraq Super League in goals on three occasions (1975, 1976, 1982) and was 2nd in the league on two occasions. His domestic club career lasted from 1970 to 1987. He led his team, Al Zawraa, to three national titles (1976, 1977, 1979). He was part of the dangerous offensive trio of Al Zawra during the 1970s that included Ali Kadhim and the Falah Hassan. He started his football career in 1970 for Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed.
