1980 Greek Super Cup
The 1980 Greek Super Cup was the 1st edition of the Greek Super Cup, an association football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Alpha Ethniki and Greek Cup competitions. The match took place on 29 May 1980 at Karaiskakis Stadium. The contesting teams were the 1979–80 Alpha Ethniki champions, Olympiacos and the 1979–80 Greek Cup winners, Kastoria. The institution was organized by PSAT as an unofficial match, but it was later officially recognized. The match was held just four days after the cup final and five days after the championship play-off between Olympiacos and Aris. Venue This was the first Greek Super Cup held at the Karaiskakis Stadium. Karaiskakis Stadium was built in 1895 and renovated once in 1964. The stadium is used as a venue for Olympiacos and Ethnikos Piraeus and was used for Greece in various occasions. The Greece national football team (, ) represents Greece in men's international Association football, football matches, and is controlled by the Hellenic Football Federation, the governing body for football in Greece. Greece is one of only ten national teams to have been crowned List of UEFA European Championship finals, UEFA European Champions. Nikos Vamvakoulas (; born 31 January 1957) is a Greek retired football defender. Club career Born in Lavrio, Vamvakoulas started playing football at the local for Olympiacos Lavrio. In 1978 he was signed by Olympiacos, where he played until 1985, winning 3 championships, 1 cup and the Greek Super Cup in 1980. Then he moved to the rival club Panathinaikos, where he spent 4 seasons, adding to his titles another championship in 1986, 3 cups and the 1988 Greek Super Cup. Afterwards, he played at Ionikos for a season before moving to OFI for half a season. In 1992 he moved to PAS Giannina and later returned to Ionikos to finish his career in 1993. Petros Michos (; born 17 February 1959) is a former Greek footballer that currently works as a manager. He started his career as a defender with Panetolikos but is better known for his many years with Olympiacos F.C., Olympiacos and the Greece national team in the 1980s. Club career Petros Michos was born on 17 February 1959 in Agrinio. He began his professional career with his local team Panetolikos in the 1975–76 season, making his debut in the Greek top division on 7 December 1975, two months before his 17th birthday. He played there for three seasons before moving to Olympiacos in 1978. He was seen at the time as one of the best central defenders in Greece and he had 10 successful seasons with the Piraeus team. Andreas Voitsidis
Andreas Voitsidis (; born 28 April 1960) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a forward and a former manager. Club career Voitsidis began playing football for the team of his homeland, Aris Palefytou. At the age of 18, he was scouted by Kastoria and in 1979 they eventually signed him. There, he excelled with the great team of the late 70s, with players such as Nikos Sarganis, Georgios Paraschos, and Giannis Dintsikos. At 25 May 1980 they achieved a great surprise as they managed to beat Iraklis by 5–2 and win the Greek Cup. He also played in the 1980 Greek Super Cup, scoring the last goal of his team in the 4–3 defeat against Olympiacos. He stayed at Kastoria despite their relegation in 1983. Kastoria (, ''Kastoriá'' ) is a city in northern Greece in the region of Western Macedonia. It is the capital of Kastoria regional unit, in the geographic region of Macedonia. It is situated on a promontory on the western shore of Lake Orestiada, in a valley surrounded by limestone mountains. 1971 Intercontinental Cup
The 1971 Intercontinental Cup was an association football tie held over two legs in December 1971 between the runners-up of the 1970–71 European Cup, Panathinaikos, replacing European Cup winners Ajax which declined to participate, and Nacional, winners of the 1971 Copa Libertadores. The first leg was held on 15 December 1971 at the Karaiskakis Stadium, home of Olympiacos, as Panathinaikos ground was deemed unsuitable. The match finished up as a 1–1 draw. The goals came from Totis Filakouris in the 48th minute and Luis Artime in the 50th minute. Julio Morales broke the leg of Yiannis Tomaras and was sent off.
