Zbigniew Podlecki
Zbigniew Podlecki (19 January 1940 – 8 January 2009) was a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who won Team World Champion title in 1965. He was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. Career Podlecki began riding as a 19-year-old, during the 1959 Polish speedway season for LPŻ Neptun Gdańsk. The team then became Legia Gdańsk and he helped them to a second place finish in the top division of the Polish leagues. In 1962, the team became Wybrzeże Gdańsk, for which it is still known today. Podlecki was called up to the Poland national speedway team in 1964 and also in 1964 he won the Individual Speedway European Championship in Wrocław, before reaching the World final in Gothenburg. The following year he helped Poland win the 1965 Speedway World Team Cup. Podlecki toured the United Kingdom with the Polish national team in 1966. Florian Kapała
Florian Kapała (1929 - 2007) was an international speedway rider from Poland. Speedway career Kapała reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1961 Individual Speedway World Championship. He was a four times Polish champion after he won gold at the Polish Individual Speedway Championship in 1953, 1956, 1961 and 1962. Kapała won the World Team Cup with Poland in 1961. In 1956 he toured the United Kingdom with the Polish team, which cost £2,000 to organise and was paid by the Polish Motor Club and British authorities. Although he did not ride in the British leagues throughout his career he nearly signed for Birmingham Brummies in 1957 and was named in the Wimbledon Dons team during the same season. Alfred Smoczyk Stadium () is a stadium in Leszno, Poland. It is currently used for speedway matches and is the home stadium of Unia Leszno. The stadium has a capacity of 16,700 people. The stadium is located on ''ulica Strzelecka 7''. History Alfred Smoczyk (1928–1950) was the first Polish speedway superstar. He successfully competed on Dutch tracks in the late 1940s, but died in a road accident in October 1950. He was the first Individual Polish Champion after World War II (in 1949).
