1941–42 Santosh Trophy
The 1941–42 Santosh Trophy was the first edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main state competition for football in India. It was held in July, 1941. Bengal won the title beating Delhi 5-1 in the final. Ten teams entered the tournament but Dacca Sporting Association withdrew. Matches were played across the country, though the final was played in Calcutta. West Bengal Football Team
The West Bengal football team (Bengali: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ফুটবল দল) is an Indian football team representing West Bengal in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They became the second Indian team to participate in the continental top tier tournament – Asian Champion Club Tournament – by playing in the 1970 edition following Mysore in 1969. History Incorporated in 1893 during the British rule in India, West Bengal have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 45 times, having won 32 titles, the most by any team. Managed by legendary Balaidas Chatterjee, the team won six Santosh Trophy titles between 1949 and 1959. In 1962, former Indian captain Samar Banerjee guided Bengal winning the trophy. The Karnataka football team ( kn, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕಾಲ್ಚೆಂಡು ತಂಡ, Karnaṭaka kaalchenḍu tanḍa) is an Indian football team representing Karnataka in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 9 times, and have won the trophy 4 times. Prior to 1972, the team competed as Mysore football team. Olympico Goal
A corner kick is the method of restarting play in a game of association football when the ball goes out of play over the goal line, without a goal being scored and having last been touched by a member of the defending team. The kick is taken from the corner of the field of play nearest to the place where the ball crossed the goal line. The Cooperage Football Ground is a football stadium located in Nariman Point, Mumbai, India. It is currently home to multiple Mumbai Football League clubs. The Western India Football Association has operated from the Cooperage Ground since 1969, and the Mumbai District Football Association holds a small office. Bobby Langton
Robert Langton (8 September 1918 – 13 January 1996) was an English footballer who played for the majority of his career for Lancashire clubs. He played mostly on the left wing. He represented his country eleven times between 1946 and 1950. After retiring in 1957, he became football manager. Langton represented Bombay in Santosh Trophy. In mid-20th century, he appeared in Rovers Cup, one of the oldest club football tournaments, with visiting army team. Playing career Born in Burscough, he signed for Blackburn Rovers from youth team Burscough Victoria in 1937. He became the team's leading scorer in his second season with fourteen goals but his career was curtailed by the Second World War which he spent part of as an infantryman in India, although when stationed in Northern Ireland he did help Glentoran to win the Irish Cup in 1945.
