1920 VFL Season
The 1920 VFL season was the 24th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest-level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured nine clubs and ran from 1 May to 2 October, comprising a 16-match home-and-away season followed by a four-week finals series featuring the top four clubs. won the premiership, defeating by 17 points in the 1920 VFL grand final; it was Richmond's first VFL premiership. Richmond also won the minor premiership by finishing atop the home-and-away ladder with a 14–2 win–loss record. Richmond's George Bayliss won the leading goalkicker medal as the league's leading goalkicker. George Bayliss
George Bayliss (30 March 1895 – 2 July 1935) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the Victorian Football Association (VFA) over three decades. Football He played for the Richmond Football Club in 1914 and then again from 1916 to 1923 (inclusive). He then played for the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) in 1924 then in the VFL in 1925. He played one game for Camberwell Football Club, in Round 6, 1930. Junction Oval
Junction Oval (also known as the St Kilda Cricket Ground, or the CitiPower Centre due to sponsorship reasons) is a historic sports ground in the suburb of St Kilda in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The oval's location near the St Kilda Junction gave rise to its name. It is located approximately five kilometres south from the centre of Melbourne and is in the southernmost part of the large Albert Park sporting precinct. The oval is the administrative headquarters of Cricket Victoria, and was redeveloped between 2015 and 2018 for that purpose. Roy Cazaly
Roy Cazaly (13 January 1893 – 10 October 1963) was an Australian rules footballer who played for South Melbourne and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also represented Victoria and Tasmania in interstate football and, after his retirement as a player, turned to coaching. Known for his ruck work and high-flying marks, he inspired the common catchphrase "Up there, Cazaly!" which, in 1979, became the title of a popular song, securing his place in Australian folklore. William James (Australian Rules Footballer)
William Roy James (10 May 1900 – 27 December 1966) was an Australian rules footballer who played one game with the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League—the 1920 VFL Grand Final. James came from Kyabram and was the eldest of seven brothers and after playing in their 1919 Goulburn Valley Football League premiership team and then after "starring" in Kyabram's losing 1920 first semi final match, James played his only VFL game in Richmond's 1920 VFL grand final premiership side. He helped Richmond earn the Tigers their inaugural VFL premiership, with his only goal late in the last quarter sealing the victory. James was retrospectively awarded a Richmond FC life membership for his contribution in 2017. Kyabram Football Club
The Kyabram Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bombers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Kyabram, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL). History Kyabram was a foundation club in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVDFA) in 1893 and initially wore a white and blue jersey, with red stockings. Kyabram did not affiliate with the GVDFA between 1895 and 1898, but the "Kyabram Ramblers FC" were active playing a number of friendly matches against other local teams in 1896.
