17th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival
The 17th annual Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival was held from 26 November to 3 December 2022. Indonesian anthology film ''Piknik Pesona'' was selected to open the festival. Japanese drama film ''Plan 75'' was the closing film of the festival. The most prestigious award of the festival, Golden Hanoman Award, was presented to Indonesian thriller film ''Autobiography'', directed by Makbul Mubarak. Saim Sadiq is a Pakistani screenwriter and director who won the Jury Prize of the Un Certain Regard section at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival for directing the drama film Joyland (film), ''Joyland'', the first Pakistani film to be selected in Cannes. Ali Abbasi ( fa, علی عباسی, born 1981) is an Iranian filmmaker. He is best known for his films ''Shelley (film), Shelley'' (2016), ''Border (2018 Swedish film), Border'' (2018), and ''Holy Spider'' (2022). Abbasi also directed the last two episodes of the first season of the series ''The Last of Us (TV series), The Last of Us''. Davy Chou ( km, ដេវី ជូ; born 13 August 1983) is a Cambodian-French filmmaker. He has written, directed and produced several films. Chou made his feature length debut with '' Diamond Island'' (2016) and made his follow-up with the film '' Return to Seoul'' (2022). Davy Chou founded the production company Vycky Films in 2009, with Jean-Jacky Goldberg and Sylvain Decouvelaere.
