14th Kerala Legislative Assembly
The Kerala Legislative Assembly, popularly known as the Niyamasabha (), is the State Assembly of Kerala, one of the 28 States in India. The Assembly is formed by 140 elected representatives. Each elected member represents one of the 140 constituencies within the borders of Kerala and is referred to as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The 14th Kerala Legislative Assembly consists of 140 elected members and one member nominated by the Governor from the Anglo-Indian Community. Composition The current Legislative Assembly is the 14th Assembly since the formation of Kerala. The Speaker of the Assembly is P. Sreeramakrishnan. The leader of the Assembly is Pinarayi Vijayan from CPI(M) and the Leader of the Opposition is Ramesh Chennithala from the INC. At the same time, the deputy leader of opposition is M. K. Congress (Secular), is a political party in Kerala, India, it is a residual faction of Indian Congress (Socialist) that was formed in 1978. It is currently a part of Left Democratic Front in Kerala. Timeline In 1980 A. K. Antony part of Congress (A) left Indian Congress (Socialist) and gave support to LDF. In 1982, when Antony joined back Indian National Congress a faction of Congress (A) rebelled and stayed with LDF as Congress (S). This included MLA's such as P. C. Chacko, A. K. Saseendran, Kadannappalli Ramachandran etc. In 2001, for a brief period Congress (S) merged with Nationalist Congress Party. In 2003, Kadannappalli Ramachandran left NCP and reconstituted the party. Member Of The Legislative Assembly (India)
A member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of States of India, State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of parliament, Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Bicameralism, bicameral Parliament of India, parliament. Niyamasabha Mandiram
The Niyamasabha Mandiram, located in Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram, is the seat of the Kerala State Legislative Assembly or the Niyamasabha. Built primarily in the classical style of Architecture of Kerala, with strong influences of many contemporary styles, it is a structure with grand staircase, gardens, water bodies and a large Central Assembly Hall. Located in a high security zone, the complex accommodates the residence of the Speaker of the Niyamasabha, legislature offices of all MLAs and offices of independent commissions and bodies. 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held in Kerala on 6 April 2021 to elect 140 Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), members to the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. The results were declared on 2 May. The election saw the incumbent Left Democratic Front (Kerala), Left Democratic Front (LDF) retaining power with 99 seats, 8 more than in the 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election, previous election, marking the first time that an alliance won consecutive terms in the state since its 1977 Kerala Legislative Assembly election, 1977 election. The United Democratic Front (Kerala), United Democratic Front (UDF) won the remaining 41 seats, 6 less than in the previous election. Kerala Congress (Jacob) is a regional political party in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a faction of Kerala Congress founded by the former minister the late T. M.
