11th Anti-aircraft Missile Regiment (Ukraine)
The 11th Anti-aircraft Missile Regiment is a regiment of the Ukrainian Air Force tasked with air defense operations throughout Khmelnytskyi Oblast. It operates Buk M1 missile systems and is subordinated to the Air Command West. It is headquartered at Shepetivka. History In 1992, after the Dissolution of the Soviet union, the 138th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the 8th Tank Army of the Carpathian Military District took an oath of loyalty to Ukraine becoming the 11th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment. The regiment saw intensive combat during the War in Donbass. It undertook combat operations in Volnovakha Raion where a soldier of the Regiment (Valentyn Viktorovych Drachuk) was allegedly captured near Novotroitske on 30 December 2014 and his dead body was later recovered. Missile
A missile is an airborne ranged weapon capable of self-propelled flight aided usually by a propellant, jet engine or rocket motor. Carpathian Military District
The Red Banner Carpathian Military District (, ) was a military district of the Soviet Armed Forces during the Cold War and subsequently of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the early Post-Soviet period. It was established on 3 May 1946 on the base of the 1st Ukrainian Front, 4th Ukrainian Front, and Lviv Military District. Eastern Ukraine Campaign
Ukraine's easternmost oblasts, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv, have been the site of an ongoing theatre of operation since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The battle of Donbas was a major offensive in the eastern theatre that took place in mid-2022. By the culmination of the offensive in July 2022, Russian forces and their separatist allies had captured the cities of Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne and Izium. Izium
Izium or Izyum (, ; ) is a city on the Donets River in Kharkiv Oblast, eastern Ukraine that serves as the administrative center of Izium Raion and Izium urban hromada. It is about southeast of the city of Kharkiv, the oblast's administrative center. Izium has a population of making it the second-most populous city in Kharkiv Oblast behind Kharkiv proper. The Mil Mi-17 (NATO reporting name: Hip) is a Soviet-designed Russian military helicopter family introduced in 1975 (Mi-8M), continuing in production at two factories in Russia, in Kazan and Ulan-Ude. Nova Kakhovka
Nova Kakhovka (, ; ) is a List of cities in Ukraine, city in Kakhovka Raion, Kherson Oblast, southern Ukraine. Nova Kakhovka has been under Russian occupation of Kherson Oblast, Russian occupation since February 2022. Avdiivka
Avdiivka (, ; , ) is a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. The city is located in the centre of the oblast, just north of the regional centre, Donetsk. The large Avdiivka Coke Plant is located in Avdiivka. The city had a population of before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but it was reported as 1,600 in October 2023, and then "just over 1,000", mostly living below ground level. Opytne, Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast
Opytne (; ) is a village in Pokrovsk Raion (district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about NW from the center of Donetsk city and at about north from Donetsk International Airport. History Starting mid-April 2014 pro-Russian separatists captured several towns and cities across in Donetsk and Luhansk Districts; since 6 November 2014 Opytne was fully under Ukrainian control. Battle Of Avdiivka (2017)
The Battle of Avdiivka of 2017 was fought in late January and early February near Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, Donetsk region, Ukraine, during the War in Donbas (2014–2022), war in Donbas.
