Ģedule
The Ģedule (also Ģedulis) is a tributary of the left bank of Iecava in Bauska Municipality. It begins as a district ditch on the western edge of Dreimaņi marsh, south of Tāma. It flows along the Semigallia plain mainly in the north direction, collecting the waters of the surrounding marshes. The river is regulated in most of its course, except for a small section before the mouth. Iecava (river)
The Iecava is a river in Latvia, in the regions of Selonia and Semigallia. Its Source (river or stream), source is formed from several Spring (hydrosphere), springs in Daudzese Parish, Aizkraukle Municipality. Its mouth is located 4 km below the town of Jelgava on the Lielupe river. The Iecava flows through Taurkalne and Upmale plains of Middle Latvia lowlands () where its Bank (geography), banks are mainly Forest, wooded. Bauska Municipality () is a municipality in Zemgale, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by Merger (politics), merging Brunava parish, Ceraukste parish, Code parish, Dāviņi parish, Gailīši parish, Īslīce parish, Mežotne parish, Vecsaule parish and Bauska town, the administrative centre being Bauska. On 1 July 2021, Bauska Municipality was enlarged when Iecava Municipality, Rundāle Municipality and Vecumnieki Municipality ceased to exist and their territory was merged into Bauska Municipality. Iecava
Iecava () () is a town on the European route E67, via Baltica in Bauska Municipality, in the Semigallia region of southern Latvia. The town has a population of around 9700 people. Iecava lies 40 km south of Riga and 23 km north of Bauska and was mentioned in historical documents as early as 1492. Until the Administrative divisions of Latvia, 2021 Latvian administrative reform took into force on 1 July 2021, Iecava was a village and the center of Iecava Municipality. History Iecava was first mentioned in 1492, when the Master of the Livonian Order, Johann Freytag von Loringhoven, issued a document regarding the duties of peasants from Iecava and Mežotne regarding the local estate. There is earlier proof of inhabitants of Semigallia settling the area. Semigallia
Semigallia is one of the Historical Latvian Lands located to the south of the Daugava and to the north of the Saule region of Samogitia. The territory is split between Latvia and Lithuania, previously inhabited by the Semigallian Baltic tribe. They are noted for their long resistance (1219–1290) against the German crusaders and Teutonic Knights during the Northern Crusades.
