Østerfælled Torv
Østerfælled Torv ( lit. "Østerfælled Market") is a mixed-use development surrounding a public space by the same name in the former grounds of Østerfælled Barracks in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a result of a redevelopment of the site in the 1990s which preserved many of the old buildings, now used for retail and commercial space as well as cultural facilities, combining them with new apartment buildings. History Plans for the redevelopment of the former Østerfælled Barracks emerged in the early 1990s after all military activities had left the area. Arkitektgruppen (now Arkitema) designed the project. A local plan for the area was adopted by the politicians in 1992 and the area was subsequently acquired by BUPL's pension fund PBU in 1993. Powder Keg
A powder keg is a barrel of gunpowder. The powder keg was the primary method for storing and transporting large quantities of black powder until the 1870s and the adoption of the modern cased cartridge (firearms), cartridge. The barrels had to be handled with care, since a spark (fire), spark or other source of heat could cause the contents to deflagrate. In practical use, powder kegs were small casks to limit damage from accidental explosions. Today they are valued as collectibles. Specimens of early American kegs for gunpowder are found in sizes like tall by diameter and tall by diameter, often with strappings of reed or sapling wood rather than metal bands to avoid sparks. Krudttønden
Krudttønden (meaning ''"The powder keg"'') is a café and local cultural centre at Østerfælled Torv in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Krudttønden is used for a wide array of cultural events, including theatre, concerts, debates, exhibitions and receptions. History Krudttønden was established in connection with the redevelopment of the former Østerfælled Barracks into a mixed-use development. It was established in 1990 by the Copenhagen Municipality, Municipality of Copenhagen at the request of local artists and volunteers. Carlsberg (district)
Carlsberg (; , ), is an area located straddling the border of Valby and Vesterbro districts in central Copenhagen, Denmark approximately 2.4 km from the City Hall Square. The area emerged when J.C. Jacobsen founded his original brewery in the district in 1847. The first brewing took place on 11 November 1847 and production continued until 30 October 2008, when production was moved to Fredericia in Jutland. The Jacobsen House Brewery is however still located in the district and produces specialty beers. The entire brewery grounds spread over more than 30 hectares and is currently being transformed into a new city district in Copenhagen. The area is dominated by numerous historic and restored 19th- and early 20th-century buildings, many of which have lavish ornamentations, as well as two historic gardens. Tap E is a former storage building of a bottling plant in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, part of Carlsberg's historic brewery site which is now known simply as the Carlsberg area. After the production of beer in the area stopped in 2009, the listed building has been taken unto use as a cultural venue which houses both a centre for modern dance, '' Dansehallerne'', and Fotografisk Center, a gallery and digital laboratory dedicated to fine art photography. The building borders on the J. C. Jacobsen Garden accessed through a pergola running along the left-hand side of the building. Frederiksberg () is a part of the Capital Region of Denmark. It is an independent municipality, Frederiksberg Municipality, separate from Copenhagen Municipality, but both are a part of the region of Copenhagen. ''Tilia'' is a genus of about 30 species of trees or bushes, native throughout most of the temperateness, temperate Northern Hemisphere. The tree is known as linden for the European species, and basswood for North American species.
