Øresundsvej
Øresundsvej is a street in the East Amager district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Amagerbrogade in the west to Amager Strandvej in the east. History Øresundsvej is the old main street of the village of Sundbyerne, Sundbyøster. All the farms of the village lined the street in a row, with cultivated land on one side and pastures on the other. The street began to change in 1755 when a royal charter allowed craftsmen and sailors to settle in Sundby Øster and Sundbyvester. The surrounding farmland was sold off in lats in the late 19th century. The first part of the street was gradually built over with taller buildings after the turn of the century. Several large industrial plants opened at the far end of the street in the 1910s and 1920s. One of them, was Nielsen & Winther, a machine factory and aeroplane manufacturer previously based on Blegdamsvej. The company inaugurated a large factory at Øresundsvej 147 in 1917. Nielsen & Winther
Nielsen & Winther was a Denmark, Danish machine factory and aeroplane manufacturer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. History The machine factory was founded in 1873. It was from 1899 to 1916 based in a building at Blegdamsvej 60 designed by Axel Berg (architect), Axel Berg. It then relocated to a new building designed by Frederik Wagner at Ryesgade 51-55 as well as a large new plant at Øresundsvej 147. Aircraft production The Amager plant was home to a new aeroplane division. It delivered six Nielsen & Winther Type Aa aeroplanes to the Royal Danish Air Force in 1917. One aircraft was delivered to the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service in 1918. Three of the six Danish aircraft crashed in accidents and the three remaining ones were therefore grounded. The Amager plant was sold to Vølund in 1920. East Amager
East is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from west and is the direction from which the Sun rises on the Earth. Amagerbrogade
Amagerbrogade is the main shopping street and thoroughfare of the part of Copenhagen, Denmark that is located on the island of Amager. It begins at the end of the causeway which connects Amager to Christianshavn and the city centre on the other side of the harbour, and runs south until it reaches the municipal border with Tårnby where it continues as Amager Landevej. The street marks the border between Amager Vest and Amager Øst, two of the ten official districts of Copenhagen. Blegdamsvej is a street in Copenhagen, Denmark, connecting Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro to Trianglen in Østerbro. The busy artery Fredensgade separates the Nørrebro and Østerbro sections of the street from each other. The north side of the street is dominated by the Panum Building and Rigshospitalet, located on either side of Tagensvej.
